Anyway. Certified gun nut here. I shoot stuff at 2km on off weekends
    .
Shooting at and hitting are two very different things.
You may shoot at something 2km away but I highly doubt you are hitting it unless it's the side of a barn.

I call absolute BS on this claim.

I can hit a man size target reliably with good factory loads out of most budget set up 308 or 30-06 upto about 1200 yards.

I have a couple rigs set up for the long range stuff. 1 mile amateur shooting was all the rage.... in 2010 I attended a long range shooting seminar with Ryan Cleckner in Nevada around that time. Fun times.

Gun control is as effective at preventing shootings as circumcisions are.

    Am I doing this right?

What if we made them trim a bit off the barrel when the gun is manufactured?

You sick fuck, then the shooters would loose some major pleasure when they are blasting people. What kind of animal would mutilate a perfectly good assault riffle? If god wanted them to have shorter barrels he would have had the manufacturer's make them that way - Buster probably.

Illinois has stricter gun control laws, but if someone can legally purchase these guns and perpetrate a crime of this scale, doesn't that show the system needs improvement?

There's a longer, but separate to what happened in Illinois, argument about how State's Rights is ineffective for gun control. Illinois' neighboring states - Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana, Missouri, Kentucky and Michigan (not quite a direct neighbor, but separated by a small portion of Lake Michigan - have fairly slack laws around who can buy what guns. Regardless of how tight Illinois makes it difficult to buy a gun (which still isn't that tough at a state level), it's not going to work if there is a simple workaround as it exists now,

Right. So Chicago’s gun problem is totally because gun laws just aren’t strict enough yet.

    Zechs quote checks out.

Serving in the military and being involved in a mass shooting is pretty much a right of passage down there.

We should adopt the same policy as the US news media:
20+ dead in school shooting then it's a story after sports and weather.
<19 dead in school shooting not news worthy.

Reset the "enough is enough" counter from Biden and media. I thought for sure the calls for action would work last time.

Three children were killed in a shooting at a private Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee, on Monday morning before police "engaged" the suspected attacker, leaving the suspect dead, local officials said.

Well this is going to hamper the effectiveness of my "but our kids will be in private school" point I usually bring up during our marital debate of moving south.
