Default WiFi Lightbulbs or Wifi light switches?

Looking into this for some select room applications. As in, not a whole house Wifi enabled lighting.

Should I look at switches or the bulbs themselves?
It would be for multiple bulbs in a single room. I feel more comfortable with the switch but would like opinions and what brand people are using.
    Android compatible.

I haven't used any myself but I would go with TP-Link just because I wouldn't plan on getting many and these ones wouldn't require a hub.

Also depends whether you are trying to go fancy with colour changes and "moods" throughout the day.

I've been looking into this as well.

I'm leaning towards the Leviton switches as they don't require a hub. The shitty part is that they have a different product for iOS/Homekit vs. everything else so you can't use both.

Wifi switches. Every single time. The wiring changes to keep always on power for bulbs and replacing standard switches with switches to control bulbs is annoying.

We have a couple wifi bulbs in lamps and if they get shut off then the wifi controls does nothing.

Like Rage said the switched are 100x better then the bulbs.

To add to this.. I had Insignia (best buy) Wifi smart switches and had lots of issues with wifi disconnecting. Switched to TP Link and no issues whatsoever.

I just got a couple of TP-Link wifi mini socket switches. A+, would absolutely buy again, zero problems. And if you watch Amazon with camelcamelcamel, you can usually get them quite cheap.

I live in a condo and switched most of my lights to Phillips Hue.

They're connected to my google home so I just leave the switch on and tell google to turn on/off the lights. Otherwise I can also use my phone to control them.

I also have a motion sensor at my front door so it turns on/off the hallway lights automatically.

Thanks. I'll look into the TP-Link switches. I don't want to go with a hub.
Didn't know about camelcamelcamel either so that's a plus too!

Not looking for color changing or going all fancy.

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

I use a combination of both. I use smart plug minis for lamps around the house. I use switches for everything else. I also went TP-Link on everything except led strips. Went LIFX on those as the hue strip would not keep the last state when turning on and that was a major bummer for me in the kitchen and ambient light behind the TVs.

If you watch the switches they go for $24 often last time they did I bought 10 haha.

I just installed a few Leviton smart dimmers recently, no hub required, so far so good. They work for 2 way switch as well and they are decora style. Mine are for IOS and you can get different model that works for android.
