That’s more of a generalization of social media no?

What do you get out of plagiarizing work experience?
    A job?

I know a guy that worked at WestJet, he stole my supervisor's entire work history there and landed a job in Victoria from it.

Yes absolutely. But LinkedIn is worse than basically any other one. It’s got all the spammy random post sharing that boomers do, combined with the fact it’s real purpose is to focus conversation on humblebrags and self promotion. I can’t think of any way to make it worse.

The guy that stole the resume? No he was an idiot and a prick.

My supervisor was an idiot and got a massive demotion shortly after I left.

Sounds like something an avid self-promoter on linkedin might do. It's a bit gauche.

Didn't even know they had an index, so shows you how much I use it, lol. I just made a profile to put it on my resume so if someone cares they can look at it and maybe think I'm cool.

This reminds me of the Black Mirror episode where redhead jurassic world lady can't get an apartment or friends unless she sells out and improves her ranking. So thus the question is what will you do for an extra 5 LinkedIn pts from me ES?

I'm 70. I just used this score when asking for a raise.

I used LinkedIn a lot at my last job to promote my product. My customers are engineers. Each post typically got 5000-15,000 views. 4,500 connections.

I encourage the people I work with to keep tabs on where their colleagues have moved, whether lateral or an in-house job. As long as you know what you're looking at, it's not a bad way for gathering market intelligence, especially considering it's free.

So I used to be in the 70's, and I'm now at 63. Makes sense because I haven't been prioritizing my linked content recently for a few work reasons.

For anyone who cares about this stuff or thinks it'll help you professionally, I think posting some form of original content once per week, and having meaning engagements on someone else's relevant content 2-3 times per week, will do a lot to get your score higher and your profile moving up.

Linkedin is not something most people need. I have seen some value from it.

Had someone in a job interview recently tell me that they thought I was extremely active on linkedin. Reminded me of this thread. My SSI has fallen to 52/100, because I have posted very little original content in the last year.

The position I was discussing would involve some "social selling" and LinkedIn marketing aspects, so my profile on there and ways to leverage the platform were key parts of the discussion.
