Default The LinkedIn Social Selling Index (SSI) - do you use it, thoughts?

This post will only appeal to a very small number of people on beyond, but I know there are a few LinkedIn power users and sales professionals around. Anyone find that Social Selling Index helpful? I'm not explicitly in sales, but I do use linkedIn to promote a business as well as my personal brand, and I have an intentional strategy to grow my follower base as well as to make meaningful connections. I feel I do pretty well at that.

Not sure when the SSI tool came live, but I first took notice a couple of months back. My SSI has ranged between 60 and 72, and it's been quite stable on the high end of that range recently.

Anyone use this? Thoughts on how much it accurately captures the value of your activity? Do you care what it is?

If you don't know what it is, you can check yours here:

34 atm, but I’m usually more like 24 I have just had a big spike in the last 45 days.

I post literally nothing in LinkedIn, and limit my network to people I actually know personally. Most just use it to see what people are doing and as an e-resume.

Yeah, for you, this is a useless measurement.

Would be interesting to see what it would do to yours if you posted a few articles, but with your small network, it might not have much reach.

Everyone has a different reason for being on linkedin. I'd guess less than 20% of people would have any interest in this tool/measurement.

To be fair, I see your stuff all the time on my feed. You are probably top 5% of my connections.

Well, that's partly because you have so few connections, under 200. If you had a thousand connections, my stuff would get buried much faster. It's also partly because I post a lot of shit, and that gets my posts "rated" as most authoritative, so linkedin puts my posts at a higher priority compared to someone who posts less. It's a kind of feedback cycle that I'm trying to use to my advantage.

32, whatever that means? If this was Linear Algebra that'd be a C, and I'd be happy about it.

    37.

I check Linkedin pretty frequently. Seems kinda low, but also seems like a gimmick for them to sell a "premium package" to account holders...

Old thread bump. I have been posting a lot less on LinkedIn the last year or so, and certainly fewer long-form articles and real original content. Really don't consider LinkedIn to be a useful sales channel for what I'm working on anymore. Thought I'd have a look and I'm at a 59 these days.

    LinkedIn mostly sucks.

Everybody's removed their detailed work experience due to all the plagiarism.

I'm fairly sure it was the #1 use of LinkedIn.

What do you get out of plagiarizing work experience?
