I'm not 100% sure which building it is now, that was a long friggin' time ago (1978-79) but I think it's loft-style apartments now. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
OK, if that was in the 70's I for sure didn't attend that venue. 1st street SW had a lot of notable spots even in my day though. Good times. The 1300 block of 1 street SW had one in a basement that I went to a few times. And I think NYLA was in the 1200 block? Not my regular area.

The Ranchmen's was also on 1st street, between 12th and 11th ave. I think where those condos are now.
Yes, you're right. Looking at the buildings left to right from Crowchild, there was the Co-op gas bar and Wendy's (both still there), then a KFC, and Billy Miner's with Pizza Hut right next door (circa 1990-ish).This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

It got shot up. If you walk by, there are sandstone pillars outside of Paper St's doors (the old My Apartment). The bullets chipped the sandstone in the pillars. You can still see them today. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I found this to be an interesting read about Electric Ave:
http://www.avenuecalgary.com/June-20...tying-History/
Also didn't know this:
It was on Electric Avenue that Kent Hehr, future MLA for Calgary-Buffalo, was the victim of a drive-by shooting in October 1991. A member of the Mount Royal College Cougars hockey team at the time, Hehr was left a quadriplegic.
