The only thing I can really recommend within 100km of Victoria is eating dinner at Alpina restaurant.

The island is a beautiful place, but you really have to be packing a tent or camper van to do it right.
Avoiding any of the places people live on the island is the correct move.

Toddlers absolutely love beaches, so I'd focus on that and then find secondary activities around that.
The sand at Qualicum Beach is incredible. It's slightly north of Parksville and it's very laid back there because everyone who lives there is 99. I believe it's literally the oldest age town in Canada. It's also near Cathedral Grove which is an incredible old-growth forest.

If you make the trek to Long Beach, I'd try to stay in Ucluelet rather than Tofino but both are nice. Tofino is a lot more money. Their restaurant called SoBo is good and she'll make a cheese pizza for your kids.

Qualicum. Yes that name was escaping me.

Great beach. Fun for low tide.

Go stay at Beach Club Resort in Parksville. It’s on Parksville Bay, similar to Rathtrevor beach, shallow warm water when the tide is in, miles of beach when the tide is out. Walking distance to Parksville community park which has one of the biggest and best playgrounds and water parks that your kids will ever go to. They also host a sandcastle competition every year. The beach club has amazing views, a pool and a hot tub. We found this place a few years ago and we go back every year. Great for toddlers/kids and nice enough that you’ll love it as well.

Despite what others say, go to cuckoo at Coomb’s and eat on the patio, fantastic food, amazing patio and the kids will like the goats on the roof.

Terrace Beach Resort in Ucluelet is also a very awesome and unique accommodation worth checking out for a genuine “west coast” experience.

We fly to Nanaimo instead of Victoria to reduce the driving.
    In reference to the above:

Parksville Beach Resort. The Community playground is a 2 minute walk down the boardwalk.

    Vancouver island lol. Classic

'Safer snorting kits' handed out at B.C. high school after drug presentation
The kit includes straws and wallet-sized cards for cutting powdered drugs into snortable lines — as well as a booklet on 'staying safe when you’re snorting'

“Have condoms and lube with you. You may want to have sex while high,” reads one tip. Another advises the drug user to decorate their snorting equipment. “Adding a personal touch to your snorting equipment will help you better recognize your own when using with others,” it reads.

“A hole in a wall intended to have anonymous sex through,” read a “glory hole” card distributed to one student.

In 2021, the Centre stated that it was “pleased” to announce that drug snorting straws would now be offered in biodegradable paper rather than single-use plastic, which was deemed to be more environmentally harmful.
I'm still unsure if this is a satire article and I need more coffee.
