Default Brim Financial World Elite Master Card

Did a quick search but couldn't find the big credit card thread. Has anyone heard of the Brim Financial World Elite Master Card? Seems very appealing:

    - No foreign exchange fees
    - 2 points for every $1 spent (up to 3 points at places you frequently purchase from)(100:1 points to cash value)
    - Free global wifi and airport lounge access
    - Event ticket and mobile device insurance
    - Trip cancellation/interruption insurance

Basically seems to have everything that my Capital One Aspire card has and it also adds no foreign exchange fees, which is nice as I believe Capital One charges ~2.5%

Almost sounds too good to be true

Sounds pretty good. Would need more details on the type of lounges allowed. The $120 annual fee sucks though.

There's a big thread going on over at RFD discussing Brim and these cards:

The catch seems to be you don't get 2 points per $1 until the third visit to the same vendor, so you only get 1 point for any one time or infrequent high value purchases. I'm guessing that resets every month or year too. On the comparison chart it also shows the 2% is capped low at $25K/year (1% thereafter), where as the CO Asipre has no limits anywhere.

So for most people, you would only get 2-3 points per $ for food and recurring expenses, everything else is only at 1% if I read that main page correctly.

Also while traveling, where your purchases are likely to be only one-time at every place, it doesn't make sense due to the annual fee (other cards offer no annual fee, 1% on everything, and no FX fee).

This card sounds great, especially since airline wifi is mostly operated by Boingo. Curious about lounges as well.

How exactly do the points work. for 3% back is it 5 transactions in one calendar month?

The base card is 1 point/ dollar, middle card is 1.5 points/$ and the world elite is 2 points / $ according to the comparison chart near the bottom.

The 25K/year cap does kind of suck though.

Isn't the Amazon No Fee No FX Fee card gone now though?

So which card is 1/$ for the first purchase, 2/$ for the third, and 3/$ for the 5th? I am confused by that first chart because the comparison chart at the bottom seems to show flat rewards (1, 1.5. 2).

Regardless, the $25K cap kills it, that is only $500 at 2% and I am guessing most people's household CC spending annually is way more than that.

The Amazon card is gone, but the Home Trust Visa is identical (other than the 2% on Amazon purchases, but that doesn't matter because you get 2% with other cards on Amazon still), with the addition of travel insurance and road side assistance:

I applied about a week ago, should have it soon to supplement my grandfathered CO Aspire.

Definitely not clear as to how the points structure works between the 3 cards at places you use repeatedly.

Bump, card is looking better and better. They now offer double the points for when you shop on Amazon

My capital one world elite mastercard expires in a couple months and I don't know which card to go with next.

Anyone use free wifi on a flight? I flew back from Orlando last month and I could only connect 1 device on WestJet. Brim and Boingo say my account should allow for 4 devices. They suggested that Westjet restricts the number of devices. haven't talked to them yet.

Mine got renewed pretty recently (earlier this year). They even went to the trouble of changing the look of the card. Expiry is now 2021. I will never get rid of that thing unless I am forced to - it is still better than any card today IMO and I'm still grandfathered into the free 10,000 pts on my 'anniversary' which almost makes the annual fee free. I also just love Capital One - they covered my ~$10K Vegas fraud (they investigated but I didn't have to fight them at all) when BMO didn't even cover a $50 charge in Nigeria after a long fight.

I'm going to be pretty unhappy if one day they fully cancel it because they don't have any other cards that come close.

Anytime I see the words "up to" I assume it's a scam.

Apparently the guy who started Skip the Dishes is backing Neo. This could be interesting if it's legit.

Backed by ATB and partnered with Tuk Tuk Thai so it must be legit.
