What if the previous owner tampered with it and scammed Honda West?

Or is it just a malfunctioning gauge cluster?

    Minus the oil change issue...

Did you accidentally change the speedometer to read MPH? (I believe it is one of the buttons on the left of the steering column)
    80 km/h = 50 mph
    50 km/h = 30 mph

The odometer would also change from KM to Miles if you had accidentally pushed the button (62000 miles = 100000 km)

So for the speedometer to be wrongby that much your gearing/tire size would have to be way out of whack. Post your tire size and also verify with gps what your gps speed vs speedometer speed is. A 5% difference between gps speed and speedometer speed is within reason but more than that and I’d question whether your setup is correct.

Not to side with the dealer but I personally doubt they’d screw around with something so easy to catch but I could be wrong

So that's what it is. I didn't touch anything. But somehow it is showing miles. Alright, let me delete this thread.

But that still can't explain all those false reading on the oil life gauge in the past 6 mth. though

You, sir, have most likely solved the dilemma.

As far as low mileage vehicles, they do exist - our last two SUV's were both ridiculously low mileage previously owned units, one still had the protective plastic wrapping on the DVD screen and player, headphones hadn't been unwrapped from original packaging. The other was under 70,000km for a 15 year old unit, senior's second vehicle that was used for church and groceries.

Oil indicators are a function of time and km. You probably timed out the oil and needed a change, despite not driving many km. Your car probably has a 6-month oil change interval...

Sounds to me like you switched the cluster to imperial as well lol.

I would recommend spending some time with your manual...

lol at deleting the posts after dragging dealers name through the mud. Also fire your mechanic friend.

OP came in swinging that Honda West did altering to the odometer and also based this off their "friends" mechanic. Another poster questioned if they switched from kilometers to miles and that was the case.

OP is the same person who wanted to get gull wing doors mounted on Honda Civic coupe or something like that, that was a special thread as well.

Noticed OP has deleted their posts in this thread, so ballsy OP is.

I bought my car from honda west in June 2017. It's a black Honda Civic Si Coupe, 2010 model. There is only 1 previous owner, and his name is Owen.

At the time of purchase, I paid $13,704, because the mileage shows it's only 94000 km. That's quite low, as an average user does about 20,000 per year, so a 7.5 yr. old car should be around 150,000 km.

As soon as I started driving the car, I already complain in writing via email to the dealership that the "Oil life" indicator is grossly wrong. It drops like there is no tomorrow. It starts from 100%, but w/ very little usage, it drops 5% at a time. By Dec., when it's still under that 6 mth. warranty, I was at safeway that night, the oil filter shows 5%, by the time when I drive home, which is only a few km drive, it shows -58. So a 2nd complaint was sent to them in writing. In the end, I change the oil (a new 5L size of synthetic motor oil) when I only drive about 4000 km in a 5 mth. time frame.

Today, my odometer shows I'm at 62,000 km. Not only that, the speed indicator is also wrong. I was driving at the same speed on country hill blvd., and the speed limit is 80 km/hr., my speed indicator shows 50 km/hr. When I drive in my main residential road, the speed indicator shows 30 km/hr, but it really should be 50 km/hr. As I can easily tell the difference btwn. 50km vs. 30 km/hr.

I spoke to my regular car mechanic that I've been using for 30 years, he also said he strongly suspect honda west is tempering w/ the odometer. And that someone didn't do a good job, which would explain all these wrong numbers on my display in the past 8 mth. Now the only person benefit from this is Honda west.

So, what kind of compensation should I be expecting? And what procedure can I take? Is there a way to get a hold of the 1st hand owner, Owen, and find out what his sold car odometer is when he sold it to Honda west?
Just curious who your mechanic friend is and where he works?
