Few interesting notes from today:

TR gets in more than 2x the laps McLaren did.

TR traps speeds slightly above Mercedes but below Ferrari. Pretty sure the "magical" McLaren chassis is a fallacy as they reside at the very bottom.

Reliability concerns continue for McLaren as in the past they were overly aggressive in terms of packaging.

Trap speeds are completely useless. Everything else is on point.

Mercedes also went aggressive in packaging this year, but of course designing both the car and power unit makes that easy. The problems doesn't seem to be packaging related. Oil leak today, bad battery yesterday in which RBR also had the same problem. Who knows though.

Everyone knew the the Renault was not more reliable last year from all the RBR DNFs, so this should have been expected. The only question was power, and if you had to make a decision based on 2017, most would pick the Renault.
McLaren chassis fallacy was just their way of putting blame/pressure on Honda. I think there is no way the McLaren chassis is better than the RBR but we shall see in Melbourne. I don't know how I will feel if TR beats McLaren though.

Just look at Monza last year, Mercedes demolished everybody and they weren't topping the sheets on speed traps.

Well to be fair, considering the shitshow that was last year, anything running would be impressive so far.

Did some reading last night and it appears that there'll be a new round of aero trickery that'll fall within undefined gray areas. Exhaust angles, mirror vents, halo aero additions, rear suspension tweaks - it's all very interesting and this technical side is one if the things I like best about F1.

Speaking of aero, NASCAR's last week's winner's team has been caught cheating and both discovered cheats appear to be attempts to gain aero advantages. It is interesting in that that team has run away from everyone else in the last two races and won those two races with ease.

Recall it was Sky Sports that had commented Honda was changing engines each day and that was the reason for the reliability.

I'm not sure about that one, personally think they have the reliability sorted and are just down a fair bit on power from Merc / Ferrari.

Difficult to tell on comparisons to Renault but I suspect they are at the same level. One things for sure, we will know in 16 days when the flag drops in Melbourne.

There is talk now that bargeboards and aerodynamic slots may be eliminated or severely restricted for the 2019 season - that would make for drastically different looking F1 cars.

The old logo is so archaic. It was definitely fitting for its time back in 1993.
