Maui Photos Dec 2017

Went to Maui in December, didn’t shoot as much as I normally would, but I enjoyed the laziness. Everything you see required less than 8 minutes of walking from a rental car, lol.

I know I should have left my kids with their grandparents since they probably won’t remember it very well and they were very disruptive and inconsiderate to everywhere we went, but unfortunately we ended up bring them.

Near the “Dragon’s Teeth” rock formations. Had to hide from a rainstorm while I was out there and then my camera battery died so I all in all it was a successful afternoon:

We went whale watching out of Lahaina, we saw a mother/baby humpback combo, but due to storm rolling in I got better landscape shots than whale shots:

Beach day at Napili Bay, the waves were crazy and coming right up to the top of the sand, so we built a big sand wall to sit behind and had fun watching other people get blindsided by big waves. I bet so many phones were ruined that day.

Nice pics, can’t wait to go back.
Was in Ohau in 2017, we are heading back to Maui this year.
It’s funny, my last trip I barely used my DSLR.
98% of my photos were taken with my phone. The photos look so good now it almost seems pointless.

This was 3 years ago, cutting film out of my life really reduced the volume



This time I was set to take my Leica Q and D810+16-35 + 60Macro +180 APO for a Landscape kit, but the night before I decided to take my 645Z on one last adventure.

I ended up taking:

- Leica Q
- 645z, 28-45mm, 90mm, 150mm which was pretty bulky.
- Ricoh GR
- Nikon AW1

I keep telling myself I could just take my GR + 21mm adapter and cover all my needs, but then I realize that I only get out to do landscapes once or twice a year so why not go big. The Leica Q is hard to leave at home too. When the wife and I went to NYC alone I took a M240 and a GR and only shot the GR. Mexico I just shot the Q.

what are you going to use for landscape once the 645Z is gone?

Just the D810, it more than meets my needs at the moment and can be my second body for events and portraits. It's too bulky to run 2 different systems at the same time.
