Alberta govt doesnt share royalties so its not and advantage to canada.

They barely take royalty in alberta, sonits a disadvantage here considering we now owe more for clean up and remediation than we have ever made.

So how much do we owe and how much have we collected for royalties?

Interesting news today. first we had new york suing big oil for environmental damage, today Arnold anounces the same saying it's like smoking, and they knew it was killing us 50 yearsa ago and hid it.

Will alberta be sued for billions in the near future? Who will pay?

He's suing for lack of warning labels. Caliphoney loves them some warning labels. It also kind of makes sense that as long as you are well informed to the dangers of a product, you are still free to use it, knowing the risk. Rather than just banning it altogether.

I figured out qhy Trudeau is supporting foregners like Koch and Kinder with these pipelines.

His family hates Alberta. These big oil legal actions will dwarf big tobacco. Alberta doesnt share resource revenue so when we are liable for billions, the conservative party in Alberta will disapear for 25 years.

The government of Canada website said the energy industry employs 270,000 people and indirectly supports 600,000 jobs. You don't believe these people pay taxes to the federal government? That website also says government revenues from energy were $12.9B in 2015. You can make a weak argument about not sharing royalties, but if these jobs (directly tied to oil & gas) went away, the revenue Canada sees would massively drop. I'd certainly call that tax revenue as resource revenue.

Nope, all a sham, all oil jobs are a net negative for the federal government and the economy.

Whats unemployment rate in places thats dont rely on oil and gas? Do people give up and do nothing? Oil and gas is a crutch. It has a heavy oppirtunity cost.

Its not a simple binary dominant class social construct. Oil no oil. Jobs no jobs.

My wife told me to say that and its perfectly rational.

That’s a pretty narrow sighted view. All economies in the world rely either directly or indirectly on natural resources.

Take your solar energy example. Some regions will focus their economy manufacturing the batteries because they don’t have the minerals readily available to mine. While another regions will focus their economy around mining the materials.

What you are saying is the current equivalent of those economies who have focused their economy around mining the materials are idiots using mining as a crutch. That is obviously silly because if region 1 doesn’t mine region 2 can’t manufacture batteries and additionally region 3 can’t manufacture solar panels because the don’t have a storage solution.

Currently the world revolves around oil and gas whether you like it or not.
