Default Help me decide on a sedan around 15K

Looks like work will involve commuting to meet potential clients for our start up company.

I am looking into a sports sedan that could easily haul 4 adult people and has to be presentable to the potential clients.

Reliability is top priority, second to that is sportiness. I am a bit concerned about an engine with turbo, AWD is a plus but not necessary and so far top of my head I am thinking:

    2006+ Lexus IS350
    2007-2008 Acura TL Type-S
    2007-2011 Audi A4 Quattro???
    2006+ Infinity G37 Sedan

    2008+ Acura RDX
    2006+ Infiniti FX35/FX50

I am out of touch on which is reliable or not on the selections above, please let me know which one is well suited for Point A to Point B with sportiness factor.

    Thanks!

Lexus will probably be the most boring, and definitely most reliable of the bunch.

TL Type-S will be a little more fun than the Lexus. Downside is it's FWD. I'd only buy a 6mt, those auto trannies I believe don't age well.

If you're doing any of your own maintenance, I'd strongly consider the Audi; if you're paying someone else to work on it, could be a little hard on the pocketbook. Would probably present the best to clients.

G35/7 from 07 and up would be a decent choice. Definitely more fun than the Lexus or Acura, mildly less reliable. Don't get a G35 from 05 or 06, interior is way behind the '07+ and they had an oil consumption issue in 05/06. I had a 07 G35S and for what it was, it was actually a decently fun car. Fun to throw the rear end around here and there, with pretty predictable handling. I think the only costly somewhat-common problems with these cars are the steering rack tends to go, and the interior trim scratches up super easy.

Acura RDX is good, I have an '11 (which is mechanically the same as the first gen I think), and it also manages to be reasonably fun for what it is. The SH-AWD is decent, and you can fully defeat stability control for winter fun. Downside is the mileage is pretty bad. In mixed driving it's worse than my ISF with a 5L V8.

Only way I would get an Infiniti FX is if it was the FX50 (09+). Before that, the interior looks like it's from the late 90s (same as first gen g35). That being said, I think 09+ FX50 will be out of your budget.

Plus it has even MORE power than an Accord 6/6, I mean you can't go wrong with that!

I like the Acura TL Type-S but it is tough to find a 6MT in good condition. Automatics are everywhere. I thought Honda "solved" the automatic transmission issue on the previous generation of the TL.

The 2009+ Audi A4 Quattro looks very appealing (looks different from the 2007-08) and something I can see driving but what worries me is the turbocharged engine, I have no experience with Audi and their 2.0T's reliability, sample found in kijiji https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/...ationFlag=true

I can do basic DIY no issues as long as it's not in the shop every month for something. Thanks!

One big thing to think about is rear space. The A4 and Lexus have nearly none and I would t want to tote potential clients around in something that small.

I would up the budget a tiny bit and look for a 2009+ fx35. They’re bullet proof, the model is still relatively current where as the rest of your options aren’t really. The rear has more room and the seats recline, it’s awd and tons of tech even in the old models.

EDIT: also, not trying to be a dick but stop writing weary, you mean wary.

2010+ Infiniti G37X...2010 got a facelift, the 07 got new body but still 3.5, 08 got the 3.7 but ugly grill, 2010 is what you want .. As for reliability, these cars regularly go up to 300,000km no problem. In top of that they've depreciated way more than their Japanese counterparts.

Audi 2.0T means having to deal with timing belt, water pump on top of the usual German problems...

Of those cars you listed it's also the fastest and can be easily had for under 15k.

FX50 would be more ideal for clients but I've yet to see one under $15k, they came out in 09...FX35 you can but I've never driven one but I'd imagine it's a huge step down in sportiness from the G.

You can get a 2010+ TL with AWD and a 6spd for under $15k easy.

My vote would be the G37x.

    Very comfortable, reliable and fun.

09+ TL or 08+G (2010+ ideally) would be the best options i'd say. Those are the two main ones I was cross shopping. You might find a high miles GS350 as well.

This. I originally thought I would be able to get 3 adults (clients) into my 07 IS350 and definitely not the case and the A4 wasn't much better. That being said, I find the rwd is350 hella fun to drive.

Yeah, IS is small! Bump it up to a GS at a minimum... 3 series would be a great car. 5 series is pretty similar for interior room. But more of an impressive factor vs entry level luxury.. and heated steering wheel as an option!

4 adults comfortably for me personally would disqualify all the sedans on your list with the exception of the TL. The other 3 are too small if you're going to have clients in the back all the time.

G37 will be your best price/fun ratio, and the basic car has been in circulation for quite some time so almost all the issues had been worked out by then. (Not that it had many to begin with).

I agree the IS would likely be your highest dependability overall.

Unsure about back seat room of the G, but I know the IS would be tight.

The back seat of the G37 is tight as well. More room than the IS, but only a couple inches. If you have someone who's 6' in the front seat, and 6' behind them, neither will be comfortable.
