I'm so jealous of all you who can sleep on a plane, I can't sleep sitting up for more than a few mins/hour no matter how wiped I am.
I flew to Panama for work a few years ago (economy) and I was still recovering from a nasty flu that left me wrecked. I was so tired that I folded my jacket on the tray table and drooled/slept for about 2-3 hours right on it.

I think my biggest problem is head support. I've tried the little neck pillows by they don't do much. Has anyone tried the fancier ones? The Woolip looks impressive (https://woollip.com/en/) . I can't stop laughing at the Power Nap Head pillow

Is everyone forgetting that international flights have free booze even in Economy?

I love being drunk on a plane and once I'm drunk I find flying to be quite enjoyable. Even if I could afford it I probably would never pay out of pocket for business class unless it was one of those lucky one off chances where they have room and offer it super cheap. Upgrading with points or something is different.

However I only feel like drinking on the way to the vacation so the flight home usually sucks.

I've traveled in lie-flat seats, with earplugs, on the top level of a 747 and still couldn't sleep during an overnight flight to Europe. Maybe I should stick to economy ... lol

If by international flights you mean flights to vacation destinations / resorts by vacation providers. And even then it’s maybe 1 glass of shit wine.

My flight to Hong Kong was 14 hours and the plane did not have any TV's. I was about to cry....
Then the hostesses came around handing out Samsung tablets loaded with movies... I was saved...
Are you for real? I can't understand in this day and age why someone would get on a plane without their own media. Phone, tablet, laptop all work great to throw a few movies and tv shows on. Can be done while you're sitting in the airport waiting to board.

Also, +1 for the bose QC25/QC35. I fly all the time, and they've been a fantastic investment.

Amateur. Shit, I used to fall asleep mid-sentence reading books to my kids when they were little - a quick nudge from them brought me back. Coming down in the gondola at Sunshine after skiing, no problem having a snooze.
    Will fuck off, again.

I think height also plays a factor. Short people like me can tolerate economy class and the legroom, but if you're over 5ft8, you have to bump up.

As for prepwork, hydration, having a nice neck support, and entertainment are key.

2900$ for business?! Cheap af lol

That's not international. Flying to Asia/Europe/etc on a non charter airline the liquor is free.

Problem is they don't come by enough to serve booze! For the flight to HK, you get 1 drink after take off, 1over dinner (maybe two if you drink the first one fast enough before they serve tea/coffee), then they turn off the lights and you don't get one until before landing. I guess you can always just ring then bell, but then you'll be that guy hah.

Once flew premium Economy to Japan and managed to get 7 beers in, fell asleep, and woke up with a hang over. Got the whole drunk cycle in over a 9 hour flight lol.

Nope. If you fly a normal airline (Not AirTransit, Condor...etc) to Europe or Asia (I even got free booze going to Pheonix which surprised me) you have unlimited free alcohol so long as you don't get cut off.

You have to be nicer to the flight attendants! Sometimes they'll give you doubles. I also suggest making a pre drink if you can (I don't know how the international terminal is now but there used to be a duty free by the gates after security) and your set.

On the aforementioned flight to Pheonix there was three of us and only two seats per row so our one buddy got shafted and sat alone near the front of the plane and my other buddy and I sat in the last row right next to the flight attendant. She loved us and we cleaned out all of her scotch. It was a great flight. First words to come out of the mouth of our buddy who sat alone? "They ran out scotch!" XD

Getting drunk is also the only way I can get any sleep on a flight too.

In Canada, you already can if it's legit medical. Once it's legalized federally, it shouldn't be a problem, depending if new rules are added.

In the US, it's murky as it's only legal in certain states, and illegal federally. TSA enforces federal laws, so you'll get fucked, even in legal states, depending on who you run into at security.

What would be the point? It's like asking if you should bring an escort to Vegas with you.
