At the same point, what dog owner just sits and shuts up about their dog being put into the overhead bin for 2+ hours... considering what people get in flight attendants faces over, they just took this in stride...?
She had a new born child she had to deal with on her lap as well. From the people around it sounds like the FA was badgering her unrelenting and eventually the ladies child was screaming while holding her so she gave up hoping it would be fine.

This is probably a really dumb question but...

I was under the impression that proper oxygen levels and cabin pressure essentially simulated being in normal environmental conditions, not as if I was 8,000 ft above sea level on a mountain.

So essentially, it was an air circulation problem in the overhead? A build of carbon dioxide from the dog because the bins close too tightly and no oxygen was getting inside?

No, when on a pressurized flight you are still at a high altitude, and yes generally speaking it's 8,000ft ASL. To keep the cabin at sea level would require much greater strength of the fuselage then they are currently designed for. Also yes, there would have been a lack of airflow in the overhead bin because although they aren't air tight, I'm sure you've seen how jam packed they can get, and the dog was of a breed that typically have problems flying to begin with.

I'm not victim blaming, but part of me wants to know why the hell they were flying with their dog to begin with. It's one thing if they were moving, but if this was just a family vacation... there's no way I would risk my dog on a flight for that, personally.

I swear I wasn't trying to derail this thread. Honest.

Now I don't know you or your kid, and most aren't an issue, but there are some terrible kid owners out there. I've literally had kids knock my dogs down in city parks and had the owner laugh it off. Have had kids constantly running through my campsite and begging at my picnic table when camping. Overall, I've met a lot of very poorly trained kids and inconsiderate kids owners.

Anyway, I'm not calling for a change in rules or regulations on airplane or anywhere else. I'm just saying that lots of kids owners are shit heads and they make the whole group look bad.

You won't get any argument that lots of parents are awful as well, but having kids is essential for the survival of the species and a functioning economy. Dogs are not.

I would gladly welcome dogs over kids
I have to agree with you. While I didn’t understand this animal love thing cuz when you grow up Asian and serve them in your store (jokes okay) you don’t develop attachment but oh my after having a couple cats for five years and playing with my friends dogs. Me love animals. I totally get it now.

I think you underestimate the dogs importance in human survival, past and future. (but no not current, really, and definitely not the small kind of dog that you can even fit under an airplane seat)

Just being devils advocate here but did the travellers not even bother to check on their dog? They just jammed him in an enclosed space and waited until they landed to make sure they were okay? What type of absent minded pet owner was this?

I can't believe someone wouldn't put up a fight about this.

What next, a ban on 20 foot emotional support boa-constrictors?
I'll take snakes on a plane over dogs, peacocks, or children any day - at least snakes don't make any fucking noise!

Came into the thread to make sure that someone had foolishly compared their dogs to actual human children.

I'm with you. I also have to wonder why it is that she gave up and put the dog up in an enclosed cabin instead of holding that fucking plane up or getting removed until she got her way.

No possible way I would have let that happen as a dog owner, insane baby or not.

Haha I don’t think anyone did? I only LOL’d at people with kids calling dog owners selfish and inconsiderate.

I find when people become parents to human children they (understandably) reach a whole new level of DGAF.

Edit: nvm it happened, carry on (pun intended)
