The ruts in the neighborhoods are ridiculous. At least when the snow is fresh the car can kind of plow or shave the deeper sections off. After it gets slushy and freezes into ice, not so much - every day I see people smashing their bumpers on ice ridges, and it's super easy to get stuck.
Happened to me inner city a few years ago. Aftermarket frame brace basically had me high centered and stuck. No choice but to call a tow truck.
Only time I've had to call one too... seemed so dumb but when it was on solid ice and your tires have an inch of clearance from the ground, you can dig all you want.
My plan if I was at home would be to jack car side up put a series if 2x4 12 footers under the tires, lower it and repeat for the other side. Possibly would have to drill holes in them and hammer a stake through to prevent movement.
I was stuck the other way unfortunately, perpendicular to the direction of the ruts, tried jamming wood in but no go

I had to push someone out today in this exact same scenario. There were a few people on the street trying to fill ruts also. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
