Activation lock is controlled by Apple and is based on Apple ID. Not the same thing as a blacklisted IMEI. That phone is not getting activated anywhere ever.

You are sure it’s an activation lock? Does it prompt you for an Apple ID?

Thats not what I was told in the "I was sold an iPhone that is now blacklisted..." thread in Computer products and Electronics section.

I took it to Apple when it said the phone was activation locked and asked them to unlock it for me and they said they couldn't because it was reported lost/stolen.
