So what is the main issue with payment plans?

Whether you donate 10 dollars a month or 120 a year same difference and I know which is easier for everyone and has lower admin fees that people get so bent out of shape about...

What do people want? The charity to gargle their balls every time they donate or something?

I watched this TED video about charity overhead and really changed my perspective on it.

I personally have absolutely no problem with having payment plans.

The problem I have is that for every single charity that came to my home this last year there was no option whatsoever to donate without going on a payment plan.

I can’t help but wonder if you looked on their website, if they had the option of a one-time donation available. However to get the best bang for their buck on their printed media and volunteer or paid canvassing base, they wanted a more lasting contribution setup.

Back when I was a volunteer canvasser for the Heart & Stroke for a few years, I found near the end most of my route were more wary of scammers going door to door, accepted the pamphlet and said they would donate online. One-time donations are usually gratefully accepted so I’m a little surprised by your experience.
That’s is what I wish charities would do, give me a pamphlet and an online option for single time donation. Now it feels like a vacuum sales at your door pushing a product.
