I have PSS on mine, 10x better than than stock RF. Should have got it the 1st summer, instead of waiting for 2nd summer.
    This is my debate

If my cars didn't come with PSS/PS4+, I would switch to them even on day 1.

Not really. Take offs fetch decent dollars.

I’ve been doing that since the PSS came out. Even threw them on my CLS.

Toyo r888r. Just drive around the speed limit in the wet. If you’re a michelin honk try the pilot sport cup 2’s...I have read good stuff in the viper community about the cup 2’s but I have not sampled them myself.

PSS > p-zero corsa’s if you want longer treadlife...but both are turds compared to the toyos.

I heard PS4S beats PSS in terms of wet performance.

My understanding of PSC2’s is that in 90% of cases they deliver worse performance than PsS or PS4S. Literally need to be warmed up well past the level of what is reasonable on the street.

In fact I have heard the PS4S have pushed the envelope so far that unless you are actually using them on the track, where even PSC2 pale in comparison to true track tires, PS4S delivers way better performance even in ideal road conditions.

PSS offer awesome wet performance, supposedly PS4S are even better. Need PSC3 to come out to really consider running cup tires right now.

And with true cup tires you now shouldn’t be driving in the rain, early morning, or even night in Calgary when temps and grip suffer.

Fuck guys, I don’t have money to be buying new tires right now...

    What he said

People really shouldn't be driving those track tires on the street

I used to drive track tires on the street, and ya you really have to drive like a dick to get any meaningful temps into them. Once they’re hot though, they’re insane on the streets, but definitely closes up any room for error. It’s quite a rush but I’m too old to do anything that crazy these days haha.

I haven’t sampled the psc2’s and what you’re saying may be correct regarding tire temps.

Tires like the Trofeo R, V720 ACR and R888r’s aren’t horrible cold. On my car, they are similar to the pss I had on the car when I first bought it. I then tried p-zeros and p-zero corsa’s. I was surprised how well the R compounds “worked” cold. Now, I didn’t fire up the car and immediately start driving at 10/10ths but for normal driving they are fine. Just exercise caution in the wet. These behave more like street tires vs something like a Hoosier a7.

I had my car out this weekend, cool pavement temps, some aggregate off the main line, snowmelt on the road on the toyos. Only problem was the in depth cleanup afterwards.

I think it’s more of a DD vs a true sunny day summer car decision.

I already obsess over the 24hr forecast with my street tires, cup tires would be too much stress in my life for a car I drive every day.

Tried to get the C63 out this weekend, got it stuck in an ice rut (only a cm or so deep) 6 feet out of the garage and had to rock and push it back into the garage. Could even get itmparallel to the alley. That was despite an afternoon of levelling and spreading gravel the day before.

My neighbors must have hated me, C63 with performance exhaust rocking out of ruts for 10 minutes

I am 2-3 weeks out of being able to daily the car at this point unless something drastically changes in the forecast.

whats the coldest temp y'all running your PSS in? Always get procasinate the winters onto the car and always wonder how safe it is when temps drop in Calgary.

PSS's I've had no issues down to about 5C, anything colder and it gets slippery. For optimal grip, I'd say 18C and higher the PSS's were happy. I've always hated my P-Zeros because you needed to drive like a dick on a 30C day to get meaningful temps into them. That alone makes the PSS a billion times better for Calgary.

Cannot drive them in any amount of snow or ice.

Temps aren’t as much of a problem as long as you aren’t driving around like Michael Schumacher... just be careful below 10 as things really start to noticeably drop off below that.

You definitely need to get your winters on early with PSS.

That said I was still driving the C63 on summers in mid December this year.

Anyone have some real world experience between the PSS and PS4S on the same car? What's improved with the PS4S?
I know it’s not quite the same but, I went from ps2 to ps4s and the difference is HUGE. The performance is improved in every category. I would recommend moving to the new tire.

I went from PS2 to PSS and ya massive difference, but it looks like the gap is much smaller between PSS and PS4S. Was curious because there’s a decent price gap between PSS and PS4S in my size.

5c in the dry, but get a bit scary if it get wet and dip below that.

In addition to no traction on snow or ice, these tires are prone to cracking in cold weather. Anything below -7C and you'll likely damage the tires if you move the car.
    I like neat cars.
