    Default Summer tires

    Hey guys,

I'm looking to get rid of my horrid RFTs and pick up some new rubber. Any recommendations on the kind of tire, and where to order from?

I prefer performance summers. I've been leaning towards the michelin PS4S (new pilot sport) tires, however, I am open to other suggestions!

Side note - is there a local shop or somewhere else I can sell used tires, apart from Kijiji?

Kijiji is your best bet for selling used tires.

I’m a fan of Bridgestones for summer performance tires, ran them in the various IS’ I’ve had and Alison my mini and e46. Michelin’s are decent too, ran them in my Cayman

Yeah well I wonder how they get the soft flowing caramel inside the Caramilk bar but you don't see me making a god damn thread about it. Slap your wife Baygirl, straighten him out.

I've got some Michelin PSS that are just awesome, but I've gotta replace them this year. Would buy again (so I guess that means my vote is PS4S).

Anyone have some real world experience between the PSS and PS4S on the same car? What's improved with the PS4S?

Only thing I have heard of is that ps4s reviews consistently better in every category.

I’m planning on getting a set for mine this or next summer depending on how I burn off the shitty Dunlop’s I am using now.

I switched from RFT's to Michelin PS4's. Night and day difference. Highly recommend PS4.
When I shopped around hands down the best pricing is from Costco and IMO their Installation and after care is pretty good.

Yea, I switched from several types of tires before moving to PSS's years ago and was blown away at the difference. I'm just trying to figure out how big of a gap there is between PSS and PS4S.

I was in the same boat...switched to PSS for the win. And if the PS4S are even better...

The PS4S is the replacement for the PSS, which leads me to believe that the overall performance increase would be minimal.

I have sold lots of both the Super Sport and the Sport 4S and I cannot honestly say there has been any real huge reaction differences from my clients who have used both. Both these tires are very well liked for those looking for great street performance, ride and wear...

If the PS4S is that good, how does it compare to PSC2?
If it is not much of a difference, maybe it's good value to go with the PS4S.

It doesn’t, comparing those two tires is like comparing apples and oranges. I assume you drive a Focus RS?

Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.

PSS's are still fairly available, and cheaper. Wonder when Michelin will discontinue it. They made PS2's for the longest time when PSS's came out for some reason, my guess was for OEM requirements.

Yeah it seems like they are phasing them out size by size so while the model (PSS) is not actually disco'd, certain size configurations are. I am betting by the end of this summer season it will be mostly done, but I wouldn't be surprised if they keep a few popular setup's around.

Awesome, thanks for all the replies everyone. Looks like I'll be going with either the PSS or PS4S. PM incoming Bob!

The conversion from one generation of tire to another does not happen instantly. The PS4+ is a direct replacement for the PSS, but they phase in the change over various sizes.

I think tire companies manufacture tires in batches, and the changeover happens as the channel clears or the dies get made, etc. I think with the shift to PSS, it took them two full years. But the plan isn't to run the tires in parallel in the market.

If you can find someone with a C63S with PSS I would consider ordering some ps4s’s for shits and giggles for a comparison.

You know me, idgaf. Let’s rip on some cars.

I have PSS on mine, 10x better than than stock RF. Should have got it the 1st summer, instead of waiting for 2nd summer.
