Remind them may be they should have the picture of cha siu on menu matches the product. That's the only complain the co-workers had as they were way smaller than the pic in menu.

But one bite and nobody is bitching any more.

Had the black garlic ramen and gyoza today, was pretty fantastic. Wife had the shoyu ramen and was pretty happy. It was rich, without being overly salty. Definitely one of my new favourites. Appreciate the recommendation.

had the blackened tonkatsu ramen, thought the texture of the noodle was very good, and the soup was very flavorful. Would definitely go back.

Pretty good! Broth was flavorful and not too salty. Noodle texture great. I would eat there again.

went there for supper and very pleased with the ramen.
not a big fan of salty broth so really liked this one, sister and wife both liked it as well.
char siu was one the best, not fat sickening like what they serve at goro gun.
soft egg is really good as well.

desert menu could be better though, didn't really enjoy the frozen mochi

if I'm craving for ramen, this would be the spot to go for me.
but price wise, I would rather go for pho

True. I had 2x extra char siu (6 pieces total), added an egg. One bowl of ramen $25 before tip

Obviously not an everyday thing but I definitely don't regret on the extra meat/egg. Yum.

Consider prices of Ramen around me, I thought they are really doing a value play.

I think only Muku is better price wise, and not by much.

If you talking about volume of food for the price, can't beat Pho.

A bowl of pho is only about 700 calories tops. Ramen can easily exceed 1000-1500. So you have to do some calculations.

Visited last weekend, really enjoyed it. I've been to most of the ramen spots in Calgary; Shiki Menya has always been at the top of my list in taste and noodle texture, albeit it's a bit salty and the wait can be overbearing. Wakado is now my #2 spot! Egg and noodle game on point (two most important things for me in a bowl of ramen ).

I went this week as well.

I have the same opinion as you after the experience, when it comes to my #1 and #2 choices for Ramen in town.

I didn't get to explore Vancouver/Richmond much when I was there last month, but went to one Ramen place there and it wasn't anywhere as good. My friend who lives there has been to Shiki Menya though, and said it would hold its own as a top Ramen spot in Vancouver.

I'm going to check this place out. I think I'd often prefer a slightly less salty broth. So this might be perfect.

Went back today for lunch. Had the black garlic Ramen again. Broth seemed to be reduced more than last time, fantastic flavour.

Server asked us if we had ever tried the miso soup, I said no and asked for a sample. She talked to the cook, then the manager, then I sat there and watched the cook prepare an entire bowl of miso broth. Turns out it's not just in a stock pot, but hand mixed for each bowl. I felt kinda bad for that! Manager came over with it and told us to try it with the chili oil...

Mind blowing good. I drank more broth than I'm proud to admit. Definitely getting that miso next time. Huge thumbs up for the level of service too.

Still great. Had the spicy miso tonight. Little extra garlic oil and chili oil and it was a perfect bowl.
