Looking for a mechanic for replacing struts

I found struts extremely easy to do, you can get full kits that are preassembled then just go for an alignment after

I've decided to DIY too, just not looking forward to extremely rusted bolts and figuring out how to drill them out if I break the heads. ...

Liquid wrench is your friend, also the bolts are pretty thick it would take a lot to break them... at least on the cars I’ve worked on

yeah struts are super easy, usually just take the wheel off and remove like 4 bolts, typically you can do them without messing with any of the ball joints or anything., and you can even bust the bolts most of the time because they're built in to the strut so it doesn't matter, you're replacing them anyway


if i were to pay a shop i'd go to beyond transmission, they do full auto, really honest guy, he's my inlaws neighbour, will never do work you dont need and will only suggest work you do need... fully set up for the alignment too.

What do you mean by "bust the bolt"...pardon my ignorance, the only time I've gotten in trouble with a bolt was doing my axle back muffler, I sheared off the head so I ended up just drilling a new hole through it...is there a method to busting bolt? Cuz when I do install some coilovers, it would save me a lot of time if there was a way to just knock it out and replace...

Suspension bolts and exhaust bolts are nothing alike except being a bolt. If you worried about breakage then soak everything in PB blaster and when you reassemble use anti-seize.

the only bolts that are small enough to bust on a strut are the top ones which are typically built in to the strut, so they will be tossed in the trash with the old strut anyway so you dont need to worry about it if they do break.

are you referring to those kits like Monroe Quick struts? They don't make them for Preludes.

Anyways, thanks guys, I will head to Balance once my struts arrive.

You are either a) Very lucky b) Haven't done much vehicle work c) Only own summer driven, 2017 or 2016 vehicles.

Busted bolts happen and even more so if you don't prep the bolts you're taking off.
Easily can add an hour + onto the install job depending.

Answer would be B lol... On my old Murano, I was trying to take off the AC compressor to get to the alternator, rounded off the last bolt, said fuck it and got access to the alternator from the top lol

also must have never done exhaust work, lol, heat basically welds nuts to the bolt, thats practically the only way to get some of them off.

I'm sure I could have, I was lowering my old Integra and couldn't get one of the struts apart so I took it to Canadian tire and they had to torch it to loosen
