Actually there's undoubtedly less money in the budget because the money the province was offering up for the Olympics was money they cut from our budget to cut into the provincial deficit.

I'm surprised the voter turnout wasn't higher. Probably fuel for "this plebiscite didn't truly represent the majority" bullshit.
I would say that's an exceptional turnout. It's a city of a million, but a lot of those million are not eligible to vote.

When people say "40% voter turnout", they're talking about the 40% that can actually vote.

Word of advice, don’t be a social troglodyte and go posting you reaction on Facebook haha. Already seeing people gloating about the outcome. I voted no as well, but you still end up looking like a 7 year old who’s recreational soccer team just won a game and coach is taking you out for popsicles hahahaha

Aside from a few comments here, I've honestly refused to discuss my vote with anyone. There's two things I refuse to discuss on my social media: My voting habits, and my eating/diet/workout habits.

I've been noticing far more extremely salty yes voters upset that people ruined their big party.

Yea it’s one thing to discuss/debate it on here, a completely different to target friends and family with your political rhetoric.

Oh they’re no different I just gave an example that would apply to the majority here, they are the 7 year old recreational soccer team that lost a game and are crying like it’s the end of the world.

Neither looks good. Don’t join in

I've been really confused about how pro "yes" the media was... Then I realized its all 100% in their favor for the Olympics to go ahead.

It also goes to show that to be in a position of power (such as the lead for the yes campaign) you need to be delusional. Who would give someone with no idea wtf people are thinking a platform to comment? This is why MSM is dying.

    Taxpayers definitely won on this.

I'm aware. But considering only 58% bothered to show up for the municipal election, your numbers aren't bad.

The next thing the taxpayers of Calgary are owed is a post mortem audit of Bidco. I feel that all Calgarians are owed a detailed report on just how much money was spent on this entire process and where it all went.

By "defund", do you mean re-allocate to Bidco 2030? Because that's what's going to happen.

I'd love to see that. I won't hold any hopes on it however.

Yeah, I really would like to know how much money they spent.

Maybe bidco 2030 can take some lessons learned and do some better public engagement. Not taking advice from Mary Moran would be a good start.
