Already saw city installed traffic calming measures in front of school which already got a playground zone.

I think that's way better than city wide speed reduction. People see less width and will automatically slows down.

I kinda agree with Farkas on this, now it's not the time to do this. Given commercial real estate is already in trouble, making people even less reason to go out will not play out well.
If you read the article, that's what they're going to do for all new communities, design roads for 30km/h, and eventually retrofit all other roads so that it's designed for 30km/h using calming measures.

Wide open roads are going to be gone within communities, I dunno if that's a good thing or not, I feel it's pretty sketchy for kids to cross in places like bridgeland where you can't reasonably drive more than 30, but cars can't see kids between cars either.

Residential neighborhoods, kids are already crossing everywhere, so designing the roads to make the drivers "feel" less safe going fast (aka traffic calming) is actually really smart because the drivers are paying more attention.
Larger collector roads, keep the little fuckers away, and raise speed limits.

It's weird that we seem to treat all types of roads about the same in terms of policing and speed limits.

This is good for a laugh and basically how most people on this site probably drive.

The Hamptons main loop is quite a speed drag at times so I don't mind it. But the Italian seniors who lives right in front of that new calming measure ain't very please. I have seen his SUV now have pull out further into the road before he can go forward.

Irony that everyone will soon be driving 300-400hp EVs and can't go anywhere fast.

They should probably not build schools on collector roads too.

In sage hill, outside of the collectors, the roads are only like 3.25 cars wide anyways so impossible to ever approach 50 as everyone parks on the street. I'm all for the curb juts they have been putting in at crosswalks so you can see people past the parked vehicles.

I live on an 80's collector, would I like people to go slower? Ya sure, but I'd settle for people going 50.

Not excusing buddy in the Lexus but my gut tells me this is the classic drive slow and when someone wants to get in your lane, you speed up non sense lol see it happen so many times on the road. Seriously if someone passes you on the sidewalk, you don’t blink but how dare they pass you on the roads lol

I mean, there's a playground zone that ends right before that video starts. I consistently have people blast by me in the right lane, while I'm doing 30 in the playground zone, in the left lane, and cut in front of me in that turning lane.
They then proceed to do 60 in the 80 on Country Hills Blvd.

Was there ever a chance of a different outcome? I feel like whatever the city wants to do they just have a dog & pony show to make it look like they are taking public opinion into account and then do it anyway haha. But I haven't been following this one too closely.

Few people will actually slow all the way down 40 anyway, so just keep an eye out for those Explorers and F150's.

    Fact.

If they get everyone driving slow enough then they can flag people down and issue tint, exhaust and other non-safety related equipment tickets too!
