That was a good one. The bureaucrats did it without council approval. Just imagine what could be accomplished if the politicians and bureaucrats worked together for evil! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

What exactly can the mayor do? I thought it was a majority rules-voting.
30 limit, 10 over tickets, equipment tickets, budget problems solved!

If they make Deerfoot a 40 zone, then people will actually merge at a proper speed!

lol, yeah no shit
More info in the herald articleHowever, they think compliance will be low and feedback from the police says that, while they agree this could improve safety, they believe it will be hard to enforce the limits.

My goal if I was in council is increasing the speed limits. Make poor drivers too afraid to drive and people too afraid to j walk without looking.
I bet there are less accidents at that point.
Just how Rage posted that the UK reduced speed limits and accidents and fatalities went up.
lol what garbage

or may be suggest the council to study the effect of indoor farting and leave the speed limit alone.
Farkas has already have a sound bite on this, saw it on global news last night.

Edit: I was remarkably close
https://globalnews.ca/news/7362978/c...imits-40-km-h/“Even by city hall standards, making the entire city a playground zone has to be the silliest idea I’ve ever heard,” said Farkas. “Not to mention that implementing this would cost millions of dollars. We just don’t have the money or the time for this right now.”

Ironically, he won over our CA (ones responsible for the long 30km/h zone) by pledging to fight to get the money 'savings' from this project that isn't funded, to fund traffic studies in support of putting more lights and traffic control measures on Elbow Drive and surrounding streets.
So he is against a city wide measure, but definitely supports community by community measures.
Already saw city installed traffic calming measures in front of school which already got a playground zone.
I think that's way better than city wide speed reduction. People see less width and will automatically slows down.
I kinda agree with Farkas on this, now it's not the time to do this. Given commercial real estate is already in trouble, making people even less reason to go out will not play out well.
