Tragic news, i was wondering why some mom friends were posting about this team last night.
curious to hear how a transport truck t-boned a bus
Was at an intersection of two rural 2 lane highways of which one had stop signs - suspect someone blew through a stop sign. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

That intersection is about 30 km from where I grew up - many have died at it, I think the most recent was a family of 4. I suppose now it'll get some proper attention. Pretty awful situation, lots of people reeling back home today.

Just found out a good friend of mine’s little brother was one of the victims.
17 years old seeing him in that photo above just crushes me.
What an absolute tragedy

Yea I've driven around there a bit for work. Flashing signs and rumble strips for locations like these are the norm. That truck driver though - hes probably on suicide watch now. Killing 14 kids because of stupidity like that ..... wow
There was literally no warning for the bus about the approaching truck, assuming bus was North bound (to Nipawin) and the truck West bound.

The only real solution here is a winding road, like the one heading west to the roundabout, to Bragg Creek. Truckers dozing off or focuses on their devices, will just run off the road that way into a field. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
They already have flashing lights for a stop sign there but appear to not have rumble strips.
Or going to the tracking system the USA just instituted so nobody can fudge logbooks anymore... but be prepared for everything to become WAY more expensive as the true cost of shipping becomes apparent. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Freight rates in the USA are up 30% over last year between the tracking and diesel prices rising.
But regardless, what a fucked up tragedy. RIP to them all. And unless the truck driver was doing something dangerous, I feel terrible for him as well. I can't even imagine the feelings I'd have in that situation.
Most rural intersections are actually terrifying. You're going at 110km/h+ and you see someone perpendicular approaching the intersection. I've gotten in the habit of taking my foot off the gas, hovering the brake pedal and waiting for them to gun it to "beat traffic" when I'm the only fucking person on the road. Word to wise, if you see someone (no how big or small of vehicle) approaching, assume they won't stop because honestly it's about 50/50 in my experience -- seriously, it could save your life.
A friend of mine T-boned someone in the middle of no-where under the same circumstances but fortunately survived and only needed physio to recover. The person who ran the stop sign died.
This bus accident is a fucking tragedy. Feel gutted.

I do the same thing, and even so in the city to a certain degree. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Never assume.
RIP to a whole lotta kids.
So the truck driver was at fault? I didnt see that anywhereThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If you know that intersection, there's no way anyone else could have been at fault. However there was a news release at 1 p.m. with the RCMP and the Broncos organization, Etc. In that the RCMP confirmed that the truck was traveling westbound across the highway and broadside the bus as it was traveling Northbound to Nipawin. The driver of the semi was not injured. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Looks like the trees created a perfect blind intersection for this to happen.
Won’t embed, but pics of the accident. Holy shit.
