Anything ever happen to the trucking company buddy worked for? I feel they should be held accountable having put someone so inexperienced such as buddy being deported behind the wheel.

He got a $5000 fine. To give context. Thats the near the amount I paid for my 2002 Honda CRV back in 2012.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I'm reading some of the comments on here and I do wonder if people actually give a shit about the young adults that died or are just venting their prejudices.
If he was Canadian born does that make it less? A buddy of mine is a truck driver. He is a immigrant, dare I say it he has actually improved the training and safety for his company. They have actually got him to train the Canadians that were born here to improve their standards. Shocking eh?
All of the things we consume or use in our daily lives be it a Trackhawk, a new fridge or the latest meal deals come on trucks.
I don't think the trucker woke up and decided he is going to kill a bunch of young adults. What happened was horrific. There were a series of micro events and circumstances that led up to that. The key things for me is the poor lack of training, safety, accountability and regulation on these issues. He should not have been driving that truck immigrant or not. That could have happened to anyone one of us in the same circumstances. That is a governance issue. Did the bureaucracy play a part in this?
That business owner and employee should be held accountable or at least change the legislation around that. Is $5000 fine ok? Given the fact that some of the people on here are business owners where is your input on this?
Where was the provincial and federal safety training improvements? As for that intersection, was it well designed with all the factors around it? I work in insurance and some of the people that assess risk have raised some questions.
We have the engineering ability to build things better.
All these things played a factor in this. Where is the accountability on those? I think whole focus on deportation covers up the incompetence of others that led up to this horrific tragedy.
Remember the bank robbery a few years back? Well one of the girls was convicted and not deported. I don't see anyone on here complaining about that.

She should definitely be deported. We have enough Canadian-born criminals as it is.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
It should be foundational in our judicial process. Did you commit a crime? Are you from another country? See-ya!
It’s well established that people don’t come out of our prisons changed men.
Why should we bet on people who are already demonstrated liabilities.
You had a chance, you fucked up. If we have an opportunity to cut our losses we should do that every time.
There is a long line of people without criminal records we can take shots on

Mr. Majidpour’s most recent assault conviction was for attacking Katie Nguyen Ngo, a 20-year-old university student, as she walked to class last fall. He hit her in the head with a pole while shouting at her to “go back to China,” though she is Vietnamese Canadian

Just another thing that CoVid really drowned out. Such a tragedy.
Saturday morning my boy came to me and said "Dad, can we put sticks out on the front steps for the Broncos players today?".
Ouch.
