    Default Best bang for the buck ssd

    I currently have a samsung 840 evo 250gb in my Gaming comp. My laptop HD appears to be slowly dying so I'd like to put the 250gb evo into it, and then upgrade my gaming comp.
    Looking for something at least 500gb, prefer a TB or over if the price is reasonable!
    What are you guys running?

    I am partial to samsung (I have 850 evo, 960 pro & evo) but the new crucials look to be pretty good:

    That is for sata, for nvme, I like samsung the best currently until other new versions from WD etc. come out.

    I'm running a 960 EVO NVMe 250gb, alongside a SATA 850 evo 250GB, and a SATA Corsair Force LE 960GB. It was on sale a few months at, and picked it up for $226. It's back up to $649 right now.

    I'm running an OCZ Agility 3 120gb in my garage laptop. Because I had it. And I have another 850 EVO 250gb in my wife's computer.

    M.2 or SATA?

    I boot off a 250GB Samsung 960 EVO M.2

    This 2TB is my current Steam drive.

    I PM against Canada Computer and was able to get it for $394 a couple weeks back. And before MemX dropped their price, apparently someone was able to PM it down to $360.

    Consider my previous 1TB Crucial SSD costed me $290. This is even better bang on the bucks. Even at the current $460, it's still not bad compared to what's out there right now.

    By the way, MemX has Vancouver grand opening on Apr 13th and not sure if any of their specials will come our way as well.

    PCI-E --> Samsung 960 EVO

    SATA3 250GB or under --> Samsung 850 EVO

    SATA3 500Gb - 1TB --> Crucual MX300/MX500 (1tb $320)

    The really good drives from the main manufactuers are so cheap now, no point going off brand with possibly sub-par storage and controllers.

    ^Mitsu basically has it in a nutshell.
    Just wanted to add-there's no point getting the new 860 EVO, it's actually benchmarked slower than the 850 that precedes it.

    IMO if you're absolutely chasing bang for the buck, go for the Crucial stuff. Quality stuff without breaking the bank. For absolute budget I would say you can go to the Sandisk SSD's but they seem to get hit or miss reviews.

    I just took my 960 evo back to memory express and they had authorization to replace within a couple days. That was without IPR.

    IIRC the problem lies with Newegg as they aren’t an Authorized Vendor for Samsung SSD’s. I seem to remember reading a thread on RFD where they did a deep dive into this.

    Edit-NVM. They came to the same conclusion not to buy Samsung.

    I've had great luck with my Samsung 830 SSD over the last..I don't even know how long.

    So stoked that SSDs are getting cheaper, though the boot disc is getting filled up with 44Gb remaining and I don't even know why.

    $399 for 2TB. They probably dropped it for grand opening.
