So I'm in the market for a new to me car and I just need to mini-rant

I don't get it, wtf is with people who post their vehicles on kijiji, autotrader, etc, even a poster in the marketplace here but w/e doesn't matter on that one...
I have responded to so many goddamn ads with 0 response, and I'm talking some ads posted within the last hour as I have alerts setup for specific searches

If you're not interested in selling your fucking vehicle, why are you posting it ffs!! Or those that do respond just flake out and disappear the second you start asking questions, are they hiding something? or are they doing the bare minimum and not lifting a finger more?!?!

I swear it's like some of these ads are fake and done by dealers so people get frustrated and go see them instead

Running into the same thing. Some guy is selling his G37, asks serious buyers to text him so I asked him about service history, claims/accident history.

No reply lol. Scrubs gonna scrub I guess.

Goes both ways I guess. I've got my bike up for sale/trade in which I am very specific on what kind of trades I'd like. But I am getting offered things like a 20 year old project crap and some freaking rims.

If the add is unclear about if they want a trade or no, then I will shoot off a quick message saying let me know if interested in trading for a bike and I will give more details. If the add specially states 'no trades' or the kind of trades, I don't message those people out of respect.

The worst lately is automotive dealerships emailing private ads as they are interested in making a (lowball) offer with no obligation to buy from them. or the "whats your lowest price, i'll pay cash today" bros

I also posted an ad of what I’m looking for and like above getting responses that don’t align with the ad

This really surprises me, just from a social standpoint. At least on Facebook, I can see you, sort of. On Kijiji, you are a rando and DGAF because of your hidden identity.

Lots of dealings online over the years has led me to realize there are a lot of people who want to chat about buying/selling rather than actually doing it -- Being decisive is a rare attribute these days.

Maybe it's the company I keep, but if someone close to me said "yeah I'll buy it," I'd hang onto it for a few weeks knowing we'd connect eventually. If someone on Kijiji says," I'm coming over right now," I don't even count on it most of the time.

It can be unfortunate because there's been times where I actually can't make it somewhere to buy something.

There's this light in Edmonton right now for a wicked deal. I'm 100% I want it but my buddy doesn't travel up there for work until Thursday to pick if up for me.

On one hand, it'd be risky for me to send an EMT deposit to a stranger and on the other hand the seller doesn't know me, so all I can do is hope that it hasn't sold by the weekend. Money talks and I respect that.

I've held car parts for people before, but only because they bought a couple things from me before and were above board to deal with.
