    Default Cheap Friends

One of my buddy came over today carrying one of the Evian 1.5L bottle and filled it up with my water cooler. LOL.

He's probably cost you more using your toilet if he's drinking 1.5L while over at your house.

It's about spending money on what I see value in. Think this may have come up in another thread somewhat recently. I am not cheap by any means, in fact far from it and everyone who is familiar with me knows this. But if the money is to be spent on something I don't really see much value in then I won't. The issue is that there are few things I feel that way about and wish there were more. lol. Only thing I can think of is in-app purchases for various mobile games. Just can't get my head around paying whatever $, however little, for anything within an app. lol

I went to Save-On Foods the other day for some bacon. They were charging $7.50 ON SALE for a 375 gram package. WTF is a 375 gram package of bacon? Not a chance I'm paying that, just on principle.

THIS! and Paypal fees, getting ripped off for $3 service fee and exchange rates pisses me off soo bad. but I'll flip for $100 no problems if there is no house fee with a friend or flip a dinner and not mind if I have to pay all of it.

Yeah its all depends on my perceived value, i even hate it when my parents or my inlaws buy garbage for my kids, its not even my money but i would have definitely said no because there's no value... makes me angry that they buy it for the kids, just a waste of money, i dont care who's money.

Some of the biggest cheapskates I know are also the wealthiest... investment bankers, generational wealth, etc.

Unfortunately some of the least well off people I know are the biggest spenders, especially on pay day!

That's exactly why Canada's gonna be in trouble, debt wise, real soon. and you've hit the nail on the head, it seems everyone I know is like that today. sad. people spending well beyond their means.

Nothing wrong with being cheap lol

All the tissues/napkins in my car are from fast food restaurants

I only eat fast food when there are coupons

I only fill up at Centex on Weds/Sat/Sun when it's $0.03 cheaper (costco is cheaper but too far)

I don't activate my parkplus parking session until 10 mins after I parked, assuming there's a grace period for payment activation, and I always end it 5 mins before I get back to the car

In the grand scheme of things it's all kind of pointless given the amount of money I spend on single malt scotches alone every week.. but old habits die hard hah

I don't consider myself cheap, I will buy what I need when I need it. But, if I know I am going to be near a costco gas station in the future (like first thing in the AM, otherwise it is too busy), I will delay buying gas to save that. Or like when I goto Home Depot for supplies for a deck or fence or W/E, I will usually ask the pro staff for a discount on the tool(s), and I usually get it. If I am going to buy something at a store that has a price match policy and it's over say $80, I will do a quick search on my phone before getting to the checkout to see if there is a cheaper price. I am also fine with buying some stuff off Kijiji second hand as long as it is not a personal item.

Drives @baygirl crazy though. She gets ticked every time I do any of that.

You have a water cooler at home? That's boss.

I have a friend who eats 3x the amount that I do. I try to be as hospitable as I can when friends are over but I can't afford to have him over that often

A trading buddy of mine lives in a travel trailer year round in a campground or on his parent's property. Takes a bus or bikes to his office everyday. Always flipping things on kijiji/ebay. Brings his own flask when we go out and will never buy you a drink.

If you seen him on the street you'd never guess he clears 500k+ every year

When at restaurants, I had a friend that would ask strangers at other tables if they weren't going to finish their dishes if he could have it..... We would also bump into this same friend when eating out sometimes and he would pillage food from our table and yes he would bust out a calculator when splitting the bills. He knew lots of ways to get into gyms and stuff for free. Yeah we all did that when we were younger for fun but he genuinely is cheap and would go way overboard to not pay for things. He's still the same 20 years later and not rich or poor but just a naturally born cheap mofo.
