Anyone have any recommendations for a place that can look at and repair a seized Hyundai engine?

Typically, youre usually looking at a replacement unit - either used or rebuilt. Its usually not cost effective to take out and rebuild a motor on a Hyundai.
What car and year? Junkyard engine?

Yup that's the one...
My warranty period was over and I decided to mod my car for the first time.
I installed an ECU, Intake, BOV, Oil Catch Can, front/rear sway bars and stiff ring collars.
As I was driving to a friends house, I heard a strange sound which was coming from my engine (sounded like the intake was constricted and choppy... could have been oil can spraying upwards).
I drove for a few more km's and all of a sudden my engine died (no loud sounds), all my lights turned on, and I pulled over before I lost all my momentum (luckily I was in a residential area).
The car would not restart.
It was dark but I checked the oil dip stick and it looked low if not empty.
Taking a further look it seems like oil had been leaking from my oil catch can onto my alternator as well as spraying up onto the interior hood of the car.
I was hoping it was just the alternator belt slipping but from what the dealership is telling me, it is a seized engine.
This was a failure on my part and I've learned a valuable lesson on modding cars.
What I was hoping for was to get some recommendations from a reputable place for a second opinion.
First mistake was taking it to a dealer. You need a quick assessment on a jack - can the engine be turned over by hand at all? There are good mobile mechanics that can come visit if you havea garage,.
car-part.com if you are looking for a replacement engine
There is an engine in Ponoka, I'd give them a call to see what they go for. As far as swapping the motor over, any competent mechanic can do it.
I have no recommendations but it sounds like a lesson in checking your oil more often. did you not get any low pressure lights?
Thanks for the link, I've sent them and some others an email. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

No warning signs right up until my engine stopped working.
Nothing you did would have caused an engine seizure if your being honest.
Something else happened.
Hopefully... that's why I'd like to get a second opinion from a good place before I make a decision.
dealer can r&r a customer supplied used motor, its just book time. Just make sure you find a good motor. you hopefully only pay maybe $300? more in labor/hr than a small garage?
Machining, Fabricating, Welding etc.
Just as an update, my Hyundai dealership fixed my engine (replaced long block) for free (good will gesture they said)!! Cylinder 2 was seized and cylinder 3 had a spun bearing.
I was pleasantly surprised someone would do that work outside of the warranty period and with all my mods. I guess sometimes the dealerships will actually help you.
Thanks for all the comments Beyond!
Good for them! That's above and beyond for sure.
Well I certainly was not expecting that outcome. Came here to say that if the dealership told you that you need a new engine, you probably don't. Left surprised. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
How can a dealer just suddenly open their wallet like this? Flies against everything i've read on here. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Good outcome. Dealer may have looked up the big recall on the 2011 Sonata engines. Maybe OP’s was covered too?
