Default What should I use to clean a gunked up radiator

    Hey guys,

planning to pull out my radiator to clean it. The stupid power steering cooler in front of the rad leaked and now a good part of the bottom of the radiator is all clogged and dirty.
what is the safest thing to use to clean a radiator?
I've read some people using brake fluid cleaner or oven cleaner.
What is safest thing to apply to the fins? Simple Green is caustic for the aluminum fins.

Brake clean only. Don't pressure wash it, or you'll bend the fins over. Oven cleaner will eat the aluminum, much much faster than simple green ever could.

    ok, thanks.
However, some over spray of brake cleaner onto plastics and rubbers should be ok?

Try to minimize how much brake cleaner you get into any rubber, plastic or painted parts, and rinse well immediately afterwards.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?
