Alright. So im not getting into hydroponics, but the wife and I invested in a 4 x 4 x 8 tent adn some racking and lights to get all of our seed starts going for the garden this year. Im tired of our dining table being covered in that crap for months before it gets planted end of may. Tips/tricks?
We have two germination trays with heater pads that weve never tried before. I dont have ventilation yet... is that critical? This will be setup in our basement.

You won't need ventilation, but you should use a couple smaller fans set on a time that turns off and on through out the day, pointed directly at your plants.
Also keep lights less then a foot away from the seeds. Too far away and they will get leggy.
If you're already growing them on your table then sounds like you have experience. How were you starting the seeds before? Those little trays with the pellets works pretty well.

We’re trying two new germination trays that have 48 “pods”, heated mats and hoods on them this year. Once those sprout and grow for a bit we will up pot to 4”. Tomatoes may need to be uprooted again to 6-8” pots as we’re starting those Sunday. Pretty much everything will end up outside so it will all be dirt based. Pretty sure our lights suck but we only have so much in terms of fun bucks to start.

Amazed how fast things grow in a proper setup. A week later and seeds from store bought peppers we ate are coming up.
I have a real love hate thing with our peppers. Planted Nov 8, and pushed out a bunch of fruit, but slower than expected, and the first batch were rotten on the vine. More coming out this week, and so tiny, but still really flavorful. Not convinced peppers are worth the hassle when it takes more than 6 months to get fruit and it's not enough for a Greek salad.
Like the herbs, and they are so much faster. But never use em all.

Yea I am doing some cherry tomatoes and 2.5 months later counting the yet u ripened fruit it’s totally not worth it. 3 plants and I’ll be lucky to get 1.5 pints of tomatoes lol
Going to transition these to outside once overnight temps cooperate and the aero garden is going to be used for herbs.

Just chopped down a massive tomato plant taking up half the tent real-estate. Was also drinking a gallon of water per day, high maintenance tomatoes.
Now onto lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers, lemon tree, and strawberries.

Bottoms of the peppers were rotten? Not enough calcium. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Peppers need warm weather. Anything under 17C and they won't grow at all. The soil also has to be quite warm.
Also if you used pepper seeds from a grocery store pepper god knows what you'll get as I think all peppers in grocery stores are F1 hybrids and won't breed true.
We do have a few lemon stealing whores in the community. I'm always on the look out. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

well there's no soil at all, and they are indoors, so it's never too cold. We used some kind of aerogarden pepper pods, so no idea what seeds that is.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Ah. Yeah probably needed more calcium and fertilizer in general then.
The fruit would have to be tiny - regular pepper plants typically grow about 3-4 feet tall.
Calmag is a hydroponic product. My basement cools down to 15- 17 at night and never had any issues. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
