So my wife's 2004 Audi A4's air conditioning compressor seized up and snapped the serpentine belt. It happened on the highway so I had the car towed home. I can change it myself but I'm wondering if there's any way to evacuate the system of freon first? I know some shops can do it, but I would have to get the car towed there and back just to get it evacuated. Any way to do this myself at home?
Also after I replace the compressor (and the condenser since I heard it's a good idea to swap it out in case it is full of debris), where is a good place to get the A/C system recharged?
