A quick look at the streaming function of the GO. This is much more of what I personally think all VR headsets will be like in the future. You have your massively crazy PC pushing data as a wireless stream to your headset. Your mobile VR device simply sends back a stream of positional data.

Now, Steam in-home streaming has go a huge headstart - but anyone could win this race. As is now, streaming only works for 2D data, so basically flat screen mirroring of your PC or Xbox.

Well... If you want to see it as education, porn can be instructional - in which case its probably better to get the girlfriend to search for porn instead of you.

Because we all know that even a pastry chef takes five days to produce 3 gourmet KitKat. Can you properly or better yet - professionally fix a toilet, change a tire, or clean off your furnaces flame sensor just by watching a YouTube video? I'd say yes. So on the unlikely chance you can convince the girlfriend that its instructional - Props.

Watching millennials try to change a tire can be painful. I'm not even sure many of them know how to screw in a lightbulb. I'm not totally convinced that they will totally mess things up without some sort of guideline.

With all that said: Oculus does not have rights to display YouTube content as YouTube is with Google and they seem to be directly competing. This may be the first casualty of net neutrality.

I don't get VR porn in that sense.... it is the one thing I'd much rather do IRL
The potential is along the line of deep fakes + VR.

Interesting - thanks. Yeah you need a wicked PC to run the thing, but if it's not wireless, that severely limits what you can do as well. In it's current state anyway, it's not hard to see why VR never really took off.

Also the DJI goggles made me sick haha - I couldn't imagine doing FPV racing.

Well, looks like LG and Google may be ready to do a 6.5K resolution screen into VR headsets.

That will almost triple the ppi from 540ish for headsets today to 1443.

Driving that resolution would be another matter, unless you are rendering at 1440p 120hz and upscale to 6.5K.

I saw that the other day actually, and thought about VR. It might finally start to look like....VR haha. Might need a few 1180's to run it though.

I wouldn't buy any VR headset without 6-DoF head and controller tracking. The price is great on the Oculus Go, but 90% of the magic of VR is the immersion that comes from head and hand tracking. Wait for Santa Cruz IMO.

Now in stock at Best Buy Canada. I can imagine they will have demos, and motion sickness bags too.

The main thing that 6dof needs, is space. A completely separate fairly large padded wall room like a holodeck is really what you want. Not everyone has said room (although arguably people could just give up a never used dining room)

Lining the walls with those foam floatation strips for pools seems to be an actual thing for 6dof. Most people only put their arm through a monitor or HDTV once before realizing it. 3Dof = best used with lock in place swivel chair and comfy armrest.
