Default Fluff, here today, gone tomorrow - the great 'Yanni Laurel' debate

So the 'Yanni Laurel' audio clip exploded yesterday and the first time I heard the clip on the radio I clearly heard Laurel.

Later on yesterday evening, my wife and I were watching a recording of Ellen and they played a clip and I heard Yanni and my wife heard Laurel. My wife thought I was nuts and even thought that more so when I told her that I had heard Laurel earlier in the day. Later on in the same show, they played the clip again and we both heard Yanni and now my wife was questioning herself now.

Now I am quite aware that I can not be sure that the same audio clip is being played every time and it appears that the pitch of the clip will change what one may hear but it is still quite amusing.

What I wonder is if anyone has heard different things while listening to the same exact clip at different times - that would be the real test and I would suspect one would hear the same thing every time. Now that doesn't mean that someone else might hear something differently but chances are that other person will hear the same thing every time as well even though it may different from what you're hearing.

    Fluff.
    Will fuck off, again.

From the description: "Okay, you're not crazy. If you can hear high freqs, you probably hear "yanny", but you *might* hear "laurel". If you can't hear high freqs, you probably hear laurel. Here's what it sounds like without high/low freqs."

I can listen to it back to back to back and hear both. If you focus on the low or the high frequencies you should be able to hear each of them.

Yanny for me. I have to turn up my bass to 80% on a THX Logitech z-906 before I start to hear laurel.

BTW: Microsoft "Groove" never sounded right to me at all, I could always tell they messed with the sound frequencies somehow (maybe they just had a bad compression algo). Even the cheap version of Spotify is better. I always thought that the OGG compression algo sounded better than MP3.

I do however, totally understand why people pay thousands of dollars to attend a live violin concert - CD never did match live concerts. Snobby Stradivarius? I can definitely tell the difference.

Out of all people to post this, OP was my first guess to do so. Welcome to the internet

    I mess with everyones minds.

This may explain why some people *insist* that some songs have certain lyrics, and absolutely refuse to believe otherwise - because that's the way they always heard it. I never did figure out every word of Nirvana.

The other thing that messes with old people is "On the Monopoly board over which eye does Uncle Pennybags have his monocle on?"

Women tend to hear "Money for nothing and your checks for free." - Trust me - do not argue with them over this (life lesson)

For this one, if you think brain storm, it sounds like brain storm. If you think green needle, then it sounds like green needle. Power of suggestion. Brain works funny.

Power of suggestion is strong. I can definitely hear Brainstorm too, eventually.

Its probably when god made humans, he put in a faulty speculative branch predictor.
