Pretty soon Vancouver will only allow vegans and hippies to live there

I’m sure this will go over very well at hospitals and special needs facilities.

The BC government puts zero thought into their ideas is almost mind bottling.

This is a city of Vancouver thing, not a province of British Columbia thing and it's for businesses that sell items that are packaged in single use styrofoam or have plastic straws. Hospitals aren't selling their patients food or drink so they should be okay.

It's not a ban when you can pay your way out of it. This is a City of Vancouver decision, not BC.

They just didn't say what the extra fee will be for keep serving with banned containers and straws.

Since the city is in charge of the waste strat, it is within its rights to do so.

Agreed. The only deterrent is cost and actual enforcement.

I nominate Cons. Armitage who handed me a ticket for tinted windows and a license plate cover (as well a article on how having tinted windows is dangerous...) to start patrolling the streets for littering instead.
Did you seriously get a ticket for tint? There must be more to that story, you don't just get yanked for tint. That's an add-a-charge for sure

Vancouver also banned round door knobs in new home builds. Of course Burnaby/Surrey etc didnt give a fuck.

They need to make a super city like Toronto (which cost a lot to do). Lose the massive bureaucracy - something like 12 separate councils have to try to work together.
Toronto is still like that. They combined all the boroughs, like Scarborough and North York and shit like that, but there's still Ajax, Oshawa, Pickering, Vaughn, Bowmanville, and to a certain extent Hamilton. There's just as many people in the GTA that live outside of Toronto proper than live in it.

Yes, i was driving with my wife to the mall. Hadn’t changed lanes, was driving a touch under the limit, etc. I was actually really surprised when he turned his cherries on and initially though he was going to pull over the person passing in the fast lane.

When he pulled me over he offered the customary do you know why I pulled you over... because you have tinted windows and a plastic cover on your license.

Truth is I doubt he could see my tinted windows (they are only 35% in the front windows) and he was directly behind me for all of 30 seconds so I’m guessing he decided to pull me over due to the plastic plate cover.

The plastic isn’t one of the obtrusive ones designed to cause issues with photo radar just a basic Silverhill Acura one that really doesn’t block the number or sticker.

The conversion turned a little awkward when he came back with the tickets and a piece of paper listing the dangers of tinted windows which he lectured me on. Same level as when a religious person comes to your door to enlighten you.

Personally, think the cop was just an asshole. I didn’t have an attitude when he pulled me over just listened and gave him the benefit of the doubt.

In terms of returning a sheet on the benefits of tinting windows he already has a big enough hard on for me already...

Funny, my gf got a ticket for license plate cover too years ago. We didn’t know we even had a license plate cover, it was installed by the dealer with the dealership name on it. Suffice to say they changed to just a frame now. Kinda sucks cuz the plates are dirty as fuck now especially after winter.

I find it quite amazing that you, being a car guy, wouldn't have noticed a plastic cover over a licence plate. Brain fart?

I'm going to see if i can get a doctors prescription for window tint then.

@turboMiata had that years ago. Still gets tickets. That loophole doesn’t work.

A car guy should still be able to notice a clear plastic cover over a licence plate but even more interesting is that it sounds like you don't look after your wife's car. She does all the maintenance including car washes, vacuuming it out, cleaning stuff out of It?

Personally I'd like to see very high littering fines that are actually enforced, especially for cigarette butts. It's actually quite surprising to me that with how much the city loves to make money off ticket revenue they haven't gone down that road yet, and this would benefit everyone.
