Cookie cutter double front drive two story house... where should your fences end? Half way down your house, nearer to the front or nearer to back? Is there a standard?

I like nearer to the front so that storage along the side yards is more hidden. No firm standard exists.
Both sides are a near the front and just a few feet behind the gutters. We got both neighbors to split the cost and put one door in the middle so the whole between the house's section is basically open/shared. Towards the back yard there is a fence that splits the yards and we have another door but the one neighbor just left it open.
There are bylaws so double check you’re not violating one/need to permit

Hmmm... to me if the fence starts too far back it makes it look like your yard is smaller? Maybe I'm crazy... I'm going to keep mine at half way down my actual house, seems like a good medium.
If you plan to add A/C in the future, make sure it extends up past where the unit would be mounted if possible, plus enough space for a gate.
5 feet from the front wall of the house.

Interesting, is that the standard? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I noticed today on my other side, all the exhausted as well as meters would be seen if I didn't fence past it... would that make it look uglier and thus some buyers would be turned off?
Cool thanks, so I guess it's just personal preference... one thing that worries me is that I hate that my basement windows will be hidden from the street, gives someone looking to break in all the time in the world whereas if it wasn't hidden behind the fence its riskier for a thief.
Since I have a front garage I was my fence to be in line with my front door So basically the front of the house but not the front of the garage.

Interesting, so you're in the gate should be in the as close to the front school of thought..
Totally personal. I've built a few fences, always did it that way and loved the look. Too close to the front makes the house feel choked off. Just that slight yard warp opens it up and doesn't take away much storage. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Further forward usually includes coverage for windows, which is a plus if the gate is secure. (Otherwise, it might actually provide cover for someone trying to get in the windows).
For my current house, the point it ended just made sense. On one side I share the same area for our garages and garage man-doors, so it is basically just forward of the corner of our man-doors at the rear of our garages. On the other side, I needed it far enough away that the door can swing inward without encroaching on the side door to our home. So we placed it in line with the neighbor's front deck.
I don't think there is any one rule to this. It's largely what the situation calls for. The only time I've seen it done in a manner I don't much like is where they place the gate as far forward as possible... sometimes right in line with the front of their garage. To me, that's not ideal appearance-wise and wastes a fair amount of material by going that far forward.
