Can you get parking tickets thrown out or reduced?
Can you get parking tickets thrown out or reduced?
Theoretically yes I can, but they require actually attending in court so I just don't have the volume right now for it to be worth it. Hopefully I can start taking them on in the future. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
They usually only reduce the fine down to the original amount, so for example if it was a $40 ticket originally (if you paid it right away) then it escalates to $75 eventually before they finally send you the actual violation ticket. If you take that to court then at that point they offer to take it down to $40 so you're not really ahead. Usually better off just paying the lower amount as soon as you get it.
Hey JoniBoy,
Thanks again for getting a reduction on that ticket a couple months ago.
My dad got a speeding ticket in the mail - any chance you’re headed to the Courthouse soon and could help out?
Thanks again!
I should be able to, depending on the court date. Email me the deets! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
JoniBoy just saved me $155 on a red light ticket!
Thanks for handling my dad's ticket as well, JoniBoy - he's thrilled he saved $42 on his speeding ticket!
JoniBoy saved my mom $155 on a red light ticket and had her demerits reduced. Thanks again!

Hahah, currently doing it just for the hell of it yep (my office is pretty close by). Thinking there's some business/side gig potential but I want to be passing most of the savings along to ppl so I'd need to get pretty insane volumes to make it work. Either way, I've saved people almost $8k now so I gotta be building up some good karma or something at the very least!
Good job! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
pm'd once again.. help plz!! haha
Wish I would have seen this before, although I am not sure it would have made a diff since I am in Lethbridge.
I had a 250 ticket, Photo radar. Wanted to get a reduction, went to the court house and was told to show up on the date shown on my ticket.
I work like a block away so it wasn't a big deal but I did spend at least 90 min there in total and the Judge just gave me a $30 break, I was not impressed.
It was my first ever court appearance and the break he was giving others was around the same.
Did I do something wrong?
Edit: I have not paid the ticket yet, is there anything I can still do about it?
Thanks

It sounds like you did it right. $30 does seem a bit stingy though...I'd have expected closer to $75 on a $250 speeding ticket, but all my experience is at the Calgary courthouse. If you've already plead guilty to the lowered fine I don't think there's much you can do unfortunately. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Everything I have heard about out-of-town courts is that they offer less generous plea deals.

Shout out to Jon! Helped me out once again.
tnx
Is the court house still open? Can you go speak with a JOP?
Nope, traffic counter is closed https://albertacourts.ca/pc/resource...porary-closure
I've been able to have them put over tickets until end of June so far via phone/email - hopefully it's open by then!
