I just have convince the wife to trade the E63 wagon for an E53 wagon instead of a Tesla... Unless the 63 version comes with the electric assist in the next couple of years.

you'd rather have an E53 over an E63?This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I really wanted AMG to make an E63 coupe. A week with the E53, I don't know if I want an E63 coupe anymore. The 63 is outright faster once it gets going, but the 53 I feel is faster coming off the throttle, so in the city it'd be pretty close.
The 63 + hybrid assist is going to be the 73 in it's initial version, so who knows when the cheaper light assist is coming.
Drove myself to work today in eco + sport exhaust mode instead of letting self driving do the work, this car officially beats my B250 fuel economy record for the same commute. 7.2L/100km, 4 km of engine off coasting. Drove exact same way I typically do. Too bad gas prices are so cheap haha.

electric assist is the key point. I hate lag. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Also, I am over the need for 600+ hp. The 400hp in my expedition is enough for a daily. 400 or whatever with electric assist would be awesome for darting around in traffic.
Now that bow trail has been twinned. My daily requirement to destroy people off the line is gone.

Electric assist in this thing is awesome. No lag whatsoever. It does need about 100 more horsepower, more electric Horsepower or a bigger battery. I found it awesome off the line, but runs out of steam as at about 4500 rpm it falls flat on its face. Kinda like a Tesla.
The transmission has finally caught up to the responsiveness of the ZFs in BMWs.
I actually can’t wait for an update to the 63 with electric assist.

Had a 48V battery failure yesterday. Since everything runs off it (oil pump water pump AC) all the critical functions shut down to persevere battery life. Warnings on both screens to pull the fuck over right now. Even low beam headlights turned off based on the errors it was firing. No hybrid assist and man this car is laggy as fuck without it.
Parked it for 5 mins, restarted, and everything came back. Stopped by the dealer to scan, saw codes, one time, system checked out fine. They think it's a one time thing, if it comes back they'll take the car in and dig in further.
I'll update once I get stranded.

I've got the E53 on my radar to buy when it dips into the high $50,000 to low $60,000. Maybe 3 years or so.
It's the manifold, should have double clutched.
Sweet baby jesus, the things I'd do for that car. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Wonder if they'll get near asking price; I was browsing for these a few weeks back and none that I found were nearly this expensive (albeit none were nearly as clean either).
One thing for the car to be worth that. Whole other game to find someone willing to pay for it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
