I go every 4. I'll push it to 5, just so it's around the same time each month, but I hate how long my hair is at that point. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I tip $10 bucks, and more over the holidays. See the same barber for 4 years now.
I get that if you know the person. For something like Tommy Guns though, I think anything over $5 is a waste as a tip. Personally (and I go to Tommy Guns) I give $5 for my cut which on $30 is ~15% and I give $5 for my two kids combined which is on $40 so about 12%. They get through the kids so fast it isn't worth much more imo. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
And I am doing my best to not bring up how much it pisses me off that so many service people expect a tip, when it should be extra... oh wait, I brought it up lol

The owner knows what he's doing with a skin fade and its $25. I tip $5. Although now that I read that comment about not tipping the owner, I may not do that anymore.
I would bet his cuts cost more than mine, with my tip. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I started going to my wife's haircutter. She's Korean so she knows what to do with my hair. She has a very attractive boxum red-head do the shampoos and scalp massages though.
Happy ending in the backroom as well? LolThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I usually go to Tommy Guns because I like the massage and its quick to get in.
Not sure why I would tip though.
I don't go to a fancy salon anymore (no longer in my 30s, or even 40s); my barber is an older Italian guy that works out of a small 2-chair shop. My usual tip is $5 on a $20 cut and the non-PC conversation is worth that alone
Damn son, in the 911 thread didn't you say you are not a beyond baller. Tipping $30-50 each time and go more than once a month is on par with $90 89coupe lunches. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I tip max $5 on a $20 cut depending on whether they fuck it up or not. Still have yet to find someone who can cut it with consistency.
Am I the only person that always leaves thinking "it looks alright" and then next day I hate it?
But whatever, it grows like a mofo and I'm back before the month ends.
Back on topic: I'm in the 10-20% ballpark at great clips. Not as many promos here as @Sugarphreak benefits from though...
The trick is to find one person who does it well the first time, then go back twice as often as you normally would to the same person, and start a rapport with them. They'll remember you better, and how you like it. Then after a few months you can go back to your regular interval. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I have a friend who back in the day when he was single, had his stylist cut his ear...twice and he still continued to go to her AND give her a tip! Did I mention that she was super hot so that might have accounted for something! I don't think he goes there any longer since he now is married with kids. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
As for me, I've been going to the same barber since I've been back to Canada about 10 years ago and I always tip him the same amount of 5 dollars. He was 20 flat but his prices went up to 23 but I still tip the 5 dollars. Solid guy that does great work so I have no issues.

I go to Evanston barber shop. I tip $4.75 on a $25.25 haircut so it rounds nicely to $30. Been seeing the same Barber for years.
