IF went on hiatus while I am on this cruise. Binge eating at it’s finest. I think I have reversed 3 months of IF in 3 days! Nom, nom, nom, nom.

Same. Summer time beer and BBQ make it super hard to maintain. I do more 14/15 hours in July/August then actually getting to 16 hours per day. Because ribs and tenderloinThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Interesting article about fat loss and fasted strength training. TLDR:
they found that the men who exercised before breakfast used twice as much fat for energy, as opposed to carbohydrates during their workouts. Ultimately, the study authors believe that the key factor behind the fat burning aspect comes down to the effects of fasting overnight. As insulin levels drop at night, the body is forced to rely on stored fat as a source of energy, which is the key idea behind intermittent fasting.
@A790 ...not really at all. Just trying to get deeper into the morning before falling on some breakfast like a jackal. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Not sure if it fits in the IF discussion...but how do you guys manage hunger at night?
I rarely get to be bed before midnight, or often later.
Two problems with this:
- It's a long time from dinner until bed, and I get hungry
- When I work out more (like I am now), my body starts screaming for calories. I find leaning out is very hard because of the increased hunger when I start working out. This is worse at night as well. So what's the best way to combat this? I've been pissing all night because I'm drinking herbal tea to try to keep my belly full.
Fucking frustrating.
You probably need a very different window than someone like me can use. Maybe 2-8pm eating window?
I'm done eating by 6pm, but I'm in bed by 9:30 most nights.

9:30pm? What time are you getting up at?
Will fuck off, again.

For the hunger / grumpyness though honestly I just remind myself that I ate enough food during the day (week, month, year) and that I won't die my body is just being a whiny bitch. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I know it sounds stupid but it actually works for me. One time I actually got mad at my old self for all the crap food I ate. Haha
Cos...
I don't mind going to be hungry either. Actually find I sleep a lot better. Now, getting through a long evening where I was hungry for hours? That would be a lot harder.

When I set my eating window from 10-4pm, sometimes I get hungry in the evening but I can bear and not get cranky.
I also occasionally make a tea pot and drink it through the evening.
I'm not doing strict IF...so I'm fine with little snacks. (I ate an ounce of cheese twice last night to help out). This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
The tea has been working well - but I'm drinking more fluids now and pissing constantly, lol
Personally, it is easier to not eat during the day because you are more distracted with work, etc. than to try to not eat when you are at home.
So if I had to set a window, it is 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. But if I was less strict, I usually do 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm window and snack in the evening.
Throughout the morning/afternoon day, just drink water, tea, black coffee. I focus a lot better at work without eating. But I also do this not to lose weight; it's just what I am use to. The weight advantage is frosting on top I suppose.
Vacation/weekend mode however, I eat at all hours of the day, who cares.
IF you are having small snacks/not really following IF, there's no point in maintaining an eating window.
If you want to cut, do it with good ol' caloric restriction
You get used to the sensation of being hungry...even extremely hungry. And after a few weeks your body will adjust and it won't be as bad. If anything the hunger is letting you know that its working just like tough gym workouts and it's the toughest when you're first starting out.
Also the extreme hunger really shouldn't be a consistent thing unless you're trying cut a large amount of weight over a long period of time. I got to an ideal body weight after a month or two and just maintaining it on a 8 to 10 hour eating window. 10am to 6pm or even 8pm is pretty easy to do and you'd be surprised at how forgiving IF can be even after a bad day or after a bad weekend of eating. If your eating plan is too tough or so short that you can't follow thru consistently there's really no point because you'll just end up where you started.
EDIT: The only thing I really try to stick to is to never have a eating window over 12 hours.

2-8pm for me... no issues even when biking into work for 18kms in the morning... nothing like working out fully fasted to burn up all those stores. I also get faster as the week goes on somehow
for me, I bike faster in the morning after a cup of coffee and empty stomach. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
heading home in the afternoon, I feel sluggish after eating (best if I wait an hour), usually facing a lot of headwind so maybe another reason why it's harder for me.
