I don't know your budget or how big of an area you want to fill with sound but without getting into the really high end stuff...

Good: JBL Flip4 / UE Wonderboom

Better: UE Boom 2 / JBL Charge 3

Best: JBL Xtreme / UE Megaboom. I had both, the JBL Xtreme is definitely better but more expensive.

The UE Boom 2's are cheap right now, that would be my recommendation unless you want something bigger. I think most people would be pretty happy with those, they are affordable, waterproof and super portable.

You can check out FUGOO and BOSE as well but I am not a fan of their offerings personally.

I highly recommend the Jawbone big Jambox. I've had one for 5 years. Very loud, very tough, very good battery life. I bring it everywhere. Now, they seem a bit tough to find online. $270US here, on US Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Jawbone-JAMBO...ds=jambox&th=1

If you want to spend less, the mini Jambox is very decent too at $60CAD. https://www.amazon.ca/JAMBOX-Jawbone...eywords=jambox

i guess i should have clarified, i'm sorry. this is for a car, a 1973 Cadillac that has the original 8 track that works but no good 8 tracks available. hoping to mount it at the bottom of the dash somewhere, so size does play a small part but good sound quality is the best. Thank you both for your replies!

If you are looking at putting it in an old car and you want the appearance of stock, i wouldn't be ghetto mounting a bluetooth speaker.

I would go with something like this:

    https://www.crutchfield.ca/p_113M182...C-M1824BT.html

You can hide the remote somewhere and run the amp to existing OR upgraded speakers.

All the JBL speakers Mitsu posted are the best for their respective categories / price range.

I have the JBL Charge 3 and it is phenomenal.

I agree on the Big Jambox.

I have the little jambox and its only good for around my condo listening to things quietly. It doesn't get very loud and the sound isn't all that great. But it works quite well for what I wanted it for.

yeah, that would be nice if the Caddy was nice. lol. honestly this thing is brought out for two weeks during stampede every year, and then it sits at a motel for a couple of months and then goes hiding back into storage. I'm stuck with the job of driving the beast because nobody else is qualified with the aesthetic modifications done to the front of the car. This speaker will work hopefully to relieve me of listening to the same ccr 8 track for the 5th year in a row, on the stock 4 inch 2 speaker setup (two more in the back where the top stows but they are useless when the top is down).

I just picked up a JBL Link 20, mostly for the waterproof and the google connectivity.. got it from the US a bit cheaper than they are listed here.

I got the JBL extreme. Works well, is loud and has charging ports. Only downside is it's quite large but that's why it's louder

I’ve got the Bose revolve+. Love it, pretty amazing the sound that comes out of it. Don’t know how you would integrate it into a car though due to its shape

Where's the cheapest place to get UE Boom 2 right now? What don't you like about Fugoo?

    Anyone have a Fugoo?

I'm looking to get one for camping and golf cart.

The Doss Soundbox XL from Amazon is the best bang for your buck.

I've had the Bose Soundlink 3, Mini 2, and JBL Charge 3. While those were all great speakers with great sound quality, they all lacked when it came to the lows. The soundbox produces a nice rich bass that I can actually feel.

The only other speaker I've heard that matches the doss is the Harmon Kardon Onyx but you're looking at about $500. Nope.

Boom 2 After hour edition is on for $99.99 at Best Buy.

When I posted that they were $99 pretty much everywhere. Looks like Best Buy still has one at that price.

I demo'd all the FUGOO speakers and wasn't a fan, but that is subjective and the demo environments aren't exactly ideal. Especially for camping or golf cart use I would go with something more rugged like the UE. Can't go wrong with the Boom 2 at $100 for a take-anywhere speaker. It also fits in cup holders and has a D-ring for hanging (In a tent or wherever) which is probably handy given your intended usage.
