    Default Scotchgard for fabric

I've just bought a couple of new chairs for my living room and would like to have them Scotchgarded since they are a fairly light colour. Has anyone had this done recently by someone they can recommend? Any advantages to having it professionally applied as opposed to buying it and doing it myself?

I've always just purchased the 3M Scotch-guard in a spray can from Canadian Tire and apply it to the furniture while it's in the garage. Put on a few coats over a day or so and doesn't stink the house up. Haven't had any issues (Have done a few couches and outdoor patio fabrics). Didn't know there was professional scotch guard applications...
