Oil is organic waste too. So I guess that’s cool to dump in the ocean right?

Sounds like the analogy is that there is still great fisheries in the gulf so clearly the macondo blowout had no impact?

Or is it just the same as saying our greenhouse gas emissions in Alberta are irrelevant because Canada has lots of trees?

It’s hypocrisy plain and simple, either you care about pollution or you don’t.

You mean, this sewage? The one that has no real impact on the environment?

If you want to argue for tankers, that’s the wrong way to do it.
LOL my god these people are hypocrites.

    The secret ingredient is dilution.
Guess what? Oil spills eventually dilute as well. If you dilute tonnes of sewage into the ocean you are still dumping tonnes of sewage into the ocean! It's indefensible how next level stupid these people are.

“There are no major human health concerns associated with the sewage discharge,” reads a 2006 editorial
“Overall, the impact of the outfall on the sediments is minimal, highly restricted in extent, and not of major environmental concern,” concluded a 1993 study

It's even a bit more than that. Notice how all of the changes these people want to make have zero effects on their lives, but require change on everyone elses?

You could pump oil into essentially a jet stream and get the same results.

Although recent testing is showing a build up of hazardous materials.

You could put oil through a large centrifuge and dilute it in water to ppm levels that would not be hazardous to sea life but that wouldn't take away the fact that you are still polluting the water as the oil content in the ocean would gradually rise over decades much like what is happening with the sewage. Just because it gets diluted it doesn't mean it's magically disappearing as it's still in the ocean. We also know that sewage isn't only composed of piss and shit as it also contains chemicals and pharmaceutical substances that we eliminate down our toilets and drains. As has been said before you either care about pollution or you don't. You can't pick and choose what pollution is acceptable to suit your cause.

Surprised this hasn’t been mentioned yet. But Horgan calling a snap election today, Election Day Oct 24th.

I personally hope the greens win a majority for 4 years so the province learns to smarten up.

BC is weird. But these days, Alberta is too. Turns out politics is weird. I feel weird. Weird.

It's unbelievable that BC held in this long when Horgan fucked the Greens by keeping Site-C. He's been the most disruptive Premier since Glen Clark and he wasn't even elected Premier. The incompetency of the Greens to not hold him to account is also amazing.

It's like they folded with four aces.

So what would the Greens winning a majority "teach" the people of BC? Full disclosure, I don't know anything about BC politics.

Well 3.5 years gone by so fast. So I would assume they would call it soon. And calling it under COVID probably goes well for NDP. Isn't BC Liberal in disarray anyway to mount a fight?

The concept he's getting at is they'd be in the stone age after a full term because the Green Party thinks the harvesting of natural resources and energy is, like totally #BoomerActions, so they can just stop doing that and count on the rainbows & unicorn piss to stop them from freezing in the dark.

Pretty much. Sometimes you just have to give idiots what they want for them to learn how stupid they are.

I'm fairly sure the NDP will win a majority. The Green's are a bit of a cluster fuck right now as they only just elected a leader a few months ago after Weaver stepped down, and Horgan's very popular thanks to Dr. Bonnie Henry.

Horgan recently commented he doesn't need to try and please the Green party anymore, so I suspect he will start to move away from some of the hard enviro stances (eg. legal battles over TMX) that were more to keep the green's happy and maintain his coalition than anything else.

The only thing that could be an issue is if there's a major outbreak and we go back into lockdown during the election - which is why he's probably calling this election sooner than later.

^I agree that NDP will likely win majority. He wants to get this done and over with so he can push his mandate. I'll do a mail in ballot.

what's worse, an NDP majority, or an NDP minority propped up by the greens?

I personally think anything outcome but a Liberal majority is status quo.

So my expectation is just status quo.
