Doesn’t FINTRAC completely defeat the purpose of a decentralized crypto currency?

Depends on what your purpose is, if you want to trade coins as an “investment” vehicle then it doesn’t really matter.

If you are trying to use crypto to hide money? Yea fintrac might get a touch in the way lol.

Just seems like a strange selling point... “hey! Trade with us! Pay cap gains on what’s essentially gambling!”

yes this is an affiliate link. I'm an investor in the company that is owned and operated by one of my good friends, so sure this is technically a sponsored post. if not allowed, then mods feel free to remove.

for the other comments, you technically have to pay capital gain on crypto regardless of the platform you use. If you choose to not report, then it's your decision. Registered with FINTRAC allows the company to operate 100% legit and gives security to the users. Your money will be kept in Canada with a Canadian bank without any shady off shore operations. This also makes deposits and withdrawal easy and quick
