I'm loving this team this season. I had some serious reservations about Peters when he was hired. Wow, was I so wrong.

I really think that the subpar performance this past two seasons was the product of shitty coaching by GG. This is much more of what the core of this team can do.

It's weird, I find coaching so fascinating, but I am awful at evaluating coaches. Apparently Peters is getting a lot more out of these guys.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

I actually don't think Gully is that bad of a coach, I just don't think he was the right coach for our roster. I honestly believe if our power play was even league average last season we'd be in the playoffs. Gully wasn't the special teams coach. That was creepy Dave Cameron. How many games were there that we could have won or gotten a point if we had just capitalized on a PP? There were a lot.

Now I'm not saying we would have won any championships or gotten deep in the playoffs with him, but he's not as terrible as people make him out to be.

The real reason for James Neal's performance this season, check out that tape job!

Yah I wouldn't just put it on coaching, from watching this year I think a few big things stand out.

    1) Lindholm - guy has been a stud and a legit 1st liner. He plays two way hockey and has helped Monahan/JG a bunch
    2) The Defence. Gio is playing like the norris favorite, Brodie gels well with him, Hanifin was a solid addition, Hammer is settled down, and the young guys on the 3rd line are playing great. Plus they ditched Hamilton as his soft ass play/tons of mistakes. That and move on from Bartkowski etc.
    3) Tkachuk - he improves non stop, and is definitely working his way up to the best player on the team

Generally the team is moving the puck a lot better, and while its unfortunate that Backlund/Bennett and some aren't putting up as much goals as you'd like at least the only major bad +- players are Neal/Ryan. Otherwise the team is mostly in the plus. Bennett sure knows how to piss off guys and I think it says a lot during Saturdays game when he goes out and fights Suter and gets in everyones face. If he can't score at least he skates his ass off and gets under the skin of other teams/standsup for his guys.
Fingers crossed the team stays healthy and momentum keeps going

I'm in BC right now for work, listening to the sports radio out here, they keep talking about how Edmonton is their main rival and target, no mention of Calgary though as they don't think they can touch us

Well that was sure a different looking team out there tonight. Can’t expect them to win every game, but it sure felt like Dallas was skating circles around us.

I honestly think having Bennett out makes a huge difference. Like him or not, he has turned into a presence out there. He may not score at a 4th overall pace, but I really like the other elements of his game.

Lots of game left and you can't count Tampa out, but I'm liking it so far
