You can build a team around the kid and hopefully someone throws an offer sheet out to him. He deserves to get paid exactly what he is worth and not a penny less. He shouldn't be lowballed to fit inside some laughable internal Gio cap that sounds like an idea straight out of the 60's. Typical Calgary flames cowboy / boy scout culture. Funny reading CP and seeing some posters claim Matty should take a paycut for simply having the privilege of playing for the flames. Other posters are even minimizing his accomplishments this to justify lowballing him. Not the greatest fanbase.

WTF does fanbase have to do with it? You must be a disgruntled Oilers fan. Please cite an example of someone minimizing his accomplishments because I haven't seen or heard of this. Oilers fanbase and media is the best at stroking their players' and team's ego, thus creating a culture of entitlement. Would you rather the Flames take a page out of the Oilers and overpay every single RFA and put themselves in cap jail?

Treliving has a history of negotiating good RFA deals for the Flames, his employer, so that his team can stay under a salary cap and still be competitive. I am sure the players who recently signed (Johnny, Monahan, Lindholm, Hanifin, etc.) recognize this and took less-than-fair deals because they know what a window to win is.

Players will take paycuts to play on strong teams that have legitimate shots at playoff success. In the salary cap era, someone almost has to in order for a team to stay competitive. Not all players will, and it doesn't always work out, but hey, that's the game we play. And so far, Calgary is dong it a lot better than a lot of teams.

I was looking to buy 4 tickets this morning and the usual top-of-lower-bowl tickets I try and go for were like 550-1000 per ticket! Made my way up to the press level and they were still 275-400 per ticket up there. I couldn't figure out why the fuck a Minnesota game was so god damn expensive then I remembered that that was the game they were retiring Iggy's number. I knew I should have bought them at Christmas time when I promised to take the fam.

Yah I'm pretty bummed I can't go to that game, I have 5 sets of tickets this year but I booked an important trip just a week before they announced that was his Jersey hanging . I was at the Wild game when he got his 500th goal, his return game with Boston, his first game back with the Avs etc.

I'll be throwing my 2 seats up on Kijiji later once I decide a price, I see some absurd markups for that game... I'd much rather go, but sadly can't.

I was on a flight with no wifi when they made the announcement. The tickets were already listed for sale for $100 each in the 200's center ice. It sold before I landed. Talk about shitty timing.

The amount of $1000 tickets I saw was insane. Go on ticket master and see how all over the place prices are. From what I could see the multipliers were at least 2x face value

Yah now that i'm back home off my rotation was going to throw on kijiji today. Those prices are so greedy.... honestly I wish so much I could go to the game, but eh... Dads 60th with all my siblings >>> more important.

If Rittich goes down we're fucked.... like every team if your #1 goalie goes down you need to rely on your backup. I dont see how the Flames should be any different. You think Tampa likes their changes with Dominque? lol

And after watching the Flames/Caps game the other day it was very clear that the Flames need a little more grit and toughness. Ferland would slot in perfect on the second or third line. Frolik/Bennet/Ferland can move up/down the lineup as required.

Except Ferland wasn’t being gritty or talented towards the end when with us, for the most part I kept forgetting he was out there
