Hopefully, Bill Peters is smart enough to know, now, to let Mike Smith slowly ride off into the sunset and be a backup to Rittich. Not an ideal solution, but that's the best option for now since nobody is giving up their decent starter for cheap.

Probably because they feel Rittich (based on last season) is not capable of being the #1 guy night in and night out.
