Has there been any offer sheets in the last while? but agreed with 88CRX, back load Chucky's contract and if Neal starts catching fire, I will reconsider GM of the year haha

Technically they could, but the Flames would match unless the offer was wayyyy out to lunch ($9.1M+), in which case the Flames would get 4 firsts as comp (the bracket below is also a lot to give up). Teams generally do not offer for that very reason, no point on stepping on other teams toes for no reason.

    RFA Compensation Scale

    Average annual value Compensation
    Less than $1,205,377 Nothing
    $1,205,377-to-$1,826,328 Third-round pick
    $1,826,328-to-$3,652,659 Second-round pick
    $3,652,659-to-$5,478,986 First and third-round picks
$5,478,986-to-$7,305,316 First, second and third-round picks
$7,305,316-to-$9,131,645 Two firsts, a second and third-round picks
$9,131,645 or greater Four first-round picks

You can build a team around the kid and hopefully someone throws an offer sheet out to him. He deserves to get paid exactly what he is worth and not a penny less. He shouldn't be lowballed to fit inside some laughable internal Gio cap that sounds like an idea straight out of the 60's. Typical Calgary flames cowboy / boy scout culture. Funny reading CP and seeing some posters claim Matty should take a paycut for simply having the privilege of playing for the flames. Other posters are even minimizing his accomplishments this to justify lowballing him. Not the greatest fanbase.

Fucking Bennett was a monster tonight. Neal with a goal. Derek Ryan was noticeable too!

I don't envy pro athletes. And I certainly don't idolize them.

    But that goddamn Bennett 'stache....

The only team with not only 4 but 5 players with 50+pts lol

How the hell does Gio have a career year at age 35, that's unheard of

2-0 leading the Oilers. So good. So good.

I love it. Some nice saves from both goalies but Flames are awesome and Oilers are garbage lol

Koskinen definitely kept them in it and made some great saves. That behind the back save was nuts.

Such a huge difference between the D cores in Edm and Calgary. Their D is so brutal in coverage and pushing the puck down hill, zero mobility. That Gio goal was four oilers standing around looking at the puck.

Normally I'd be upset at SN for switching their coverage over to the Oilers so fast. But at the moment, it's so entertaining I don't mind.

Nice to see the Flames starting to pull away from the standings.

Haha, even is he got paid the 'Gio Cap' thats 9 mill Cdn a year to play a sport. I personally don't believe anyone should make even that much but hey, thats the world we live in.
I do believe Chucky will sign for more than Gio though, the cap has gone up a fair amount since Mony and Johnnys contracts, and in line with the other guys coming off entry level that are in line to get paid (matthews, marner, laine, point) etc, I think Chucky will be in that category as well. He is the future Captain of the Flames and I would not be surprised with a 7-8mill/year contract for 7-8 years

Only 5 points within Tampa, granted they have games in hand but we’re catching up for now
