I can't tell if Vegas is just steamrolling the Sharks or if the Sharks goalies have just given up on life

I do like this Vegas team. Speed, skills, and toughness. And MAF is a fun goalie.

I was curious so I was looking at some stats and I think this Tampa loss is one of the worst NHL playoff upsets we've ever seen.

Tampa hadn't lost 3 games in a row the entire season (last time was March 2018), and they haven't lost 4 games in a row since Jan 2017.

Tampa tied the NHL record for most wins (regular season), they had the leading point getter (Kucherov), and their goalie was top 10 GAA/save %/Wins/shutouts.

This is the first time a President's trophy winner has been swept 4-0 in a playoff series.

Columbus was the only remaining team in the league who had never won a NHL playoff series, was the lowest position in their conference (clinched their spot second last day of season) and have never won a playoff series. Further, they have never won more than 2 games in a playoff series ever. In the regular season they went 0-3 vs Tampa and all games combined had scoring at 17-3 in Tampa's favor.

All that said, I think Tampa played like shit, their best player got himself suspended, Stamkos was invisible and Hedman got injured. You were left with guys like Tyler Johnson trying to pock up the slack. I think they would have lost to any team, so the jury is still out on how good Columbus will be in the playoffs. If I had to bet I'd bet they lose the next round, and all they end up doing is take out Tampa haha.

Pittsburgh losing too was a surprise but the NYI played a trap game. It's nice to see the underdogs taking out the higher profile teams with a long playoff history. With Tampa and Pittsburgh out this gives Washington a huge boost IMHO as they are probably the best remaining team on paper, but they also just lost 5-0 to Carolina.

Vegas is looking great. Martin Jones is also such a horrible goalie there's only so much a team can do.

I'm awful at these, but here's my predictions.

    EASTERN CONFERENCE
(A1) Tampa Bay Lightning vs. (W2) Columbus Blue Jackets - Tampa 7
(M2) New York Islanders vs. (M3) Pittsburgh Penguins - Isles in 5
    Well, I was super close, I called CBJ winning three . . . . .

Columbus sweeping Tampa 4-0 is the biggest upset in NHL history. And listening to the broadcasters on TV and Radio I think most of them would agree as well. Shits crazy.

Yah I wouldn't say you need to read into much stats on the series. You have the team who tied the record for the most wins all time getting swept in the 1st round.

While yes, the 95-96 Wings didn't win the cup. But they lost in the West final to the Avs who won the cup and were a damnnnnn good team.

Tampa losing to Columbus is like playing Texas holdem where often the best hand to beat an AK is with a 34.

I just hope the Flames can learn from what they saw with Tampa and just stepping it up tonight instead of waiting until they are on the brink

Who you guys cheering for moving forward?

I cheering on the Knights, Bruins, and Islanders. I don't have a good feeling on the Bruins though.

I wouldn't hate it if the Blue Jackets went far either.
